Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Carol, Yay! Yes, I would love a cutting of that currant! Shall we meet at the show early then head to the lafayette street fair? There are a dozen or so antique shops there!

I have several French lilac seedlings if you would like some!
400

Also, ask loretta if she would like cream brabanters, spitz, golden lakenvelder, production reds, as i have a bunch of pullets to "sell". Really i just want to recoup my costs. They are marek's vaccinated, have been in the brooder for 5 weeks, fully feathered and much stronger than last years bunch. I am only bringing them if someone is interested...

Pip, will you be coming as well?

Yes I'm hoping to get there early. How early does it open and how early will you be there?
As luck would have it, it is my DGD's dance recital on Saturday and I will have to come back early.
I'd love a cutting of that currant also Carol if you could. I have two black currants at the moment and two gooseberries. I had a red currant but I had to dig it up and put it in a pot because I had bindweed in that bed and it didn't make it. Aargh have you ever tried to get rid if that stuff?!!

It runs from 9 until about 3. I am going to try to be there by 9 am, if I can extricate myself from the house and nothing keeps me here late. You know how it is when you are trying to get out of the house alone and you have a kid, a hubby, 2 dogs, 28 teenager chickens and 30 adult chickens to wrangle before you get escape?

I will try and leave here by about 7:30 and that should put me there about 9 also. I only have to wrangle a hubby two kids three grand kids two dogs and only two small chickens. So I should be ok to go after a cup of coffee...

HELLO Hippy... I miss you. I'll be there by 9 unless I run into traffic. I'm putting Richard in the car this morning and sending him to Foxwoods to see Springsteen. So I only have the dog cause the girls are usually taken care of by 530.

Christina, loretta is getting 4 girls from Misti so she is going to pass on your babies. She only wanted 5 but is settling so she doesn't have an odd man out.
I'll take a sapling, and I'll cut the currants tonight. It is very healthy and has beautiful shade of fruit.

I'm also leaving early so I can go to Layfayette and beat the traffic home.

Carol, I dug out several saplings. I hope they take for you, it was pouring out so I was hurrying to get them dug. It think I got enough root with them. If they don't take, I will have more by mid summer and I will did them on a day when it isn't raining buckets and windy as all get out... if anyone had seen me they would have thought I was out of my mind. Tee hee. I love spring and playing in the dirt!!! It will be nice to be able to hang out a while tomorrow. Lafayette should be fun. The town is so quaint.

Pip, sent you a pm and a text! Can't wait to see you tomorrow! Will you be going to Lafayette as well or not because of the recital? Bindweed? Is that the wild morning glory? I have no idea how to get rid of it. I am convinced that if I put weed killer on my lawn I would have a desert. It don't think I really even have any actual grass. It is all clover, dandelions, crab grass, and other assorted pasture weeds. We just keep mowing it. lol. The chickens love it though, I imagine it is more nutritious than regular grass.

I will have a red t-shirt on with a Hugh rooster face on it.
I was digging up plants for you and Pip in the rain as well. If you don't want them I'll take them home.
I'll be there about. 9 if all goes well. Christina my cell will be on. Pip I don't know if you have the number.
I've got to be on the road no later than 1.
See you there have a safe trip everyone.

It was so nice to see everyone today.
That you for the cuttings Carol I have it potted already but I didn't put it in the sun so it didn't get too stressed.
The new chickies were in an old safari crate in the run and my two Seramas inspected them and then took a dust bath. They are now officially Buttercup (the brabanter) and Daisy (the spitzhauben).
Sorry I didn't say goodbye Roberta but you weren't there when I had to leave. I hope everyone had a safe ride home.
I was sorry not to be able to go to Lafayette. I saw you Carol and Loretta on the corner as I was coming up to the light. I think it was the chocolate goat? Anyway you went inside before I could open my window.
Ideal farm stand didn't have any chick feed so thank you for what you had Christine. I will drive up to Bennies feed barn on Monday. Tomorrow I have to finish emptying the garage so the construction can start when we get the permit. It is going to be a real mess this summer... But I will keep thinking of the end project.

Hello All, it was great seeing you Pip and Christina. It's always too short.we finally
got home after the 4 hour car ride from hell. Every road between Augusta and East Islip was congested.
it should normally only take about 2. The stop over at Layfayette was a pleasant surprise. Let me rephrase that. After having a nice lunch and shopping we get back to my car to leave... Loretta wants to see the chickens that were in a box in the back. As the door hatch lifted I see both chickens flying around my car. I'm screaming to Lorettta to get out of the way so I can close the door so we aren't chasing chickens around Layfayette. We did get them back in the box but not before they left us sprayed with chicken SHIrT . One of those times I wished I had my Channel number 5 with me. Never a dull one.
