Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hello all,

Haven't posted on here in a long time, but wanted to say if anyone is interested in two lavender Ameraucana cockrels I have to rehome, you can PM me. They are 9 weeks old. I am in Dutchess County. Will get some updated pics of them tomorrow.

Hello All.....
Christina how have you been feeling?
My garden if doing fantastic..I can't keep up.
The Asian winged beans and the flying saucer hot pepper seeds I bought in CT didn't do well at all. All the seeds you gave me and Loretta grew just fine.
How's Lillie's fairy garden? Give her a big hug from me.

Hope everyone is having a nice summer.

Pip how's the construction coming along?

I am exhausted and in relapse... so no business trips again. I am back in therapy, but I think they are going to want to try different meds this time, we shall see.

My garden is running away with my yard. I had a few things not go, but I replaced them fast enough to make use of the ground. I had a woodchuck burrow under my fence and am working on trapping him. He has destroyed my bean crop. I will get him sooner or later. I gave up on trying to keep the pumpkin patch weeded. I hope they do alright. They all germinated really, really, well. I didn't get much in the way of corn. It just never came up. I suspect a critter ate the seeds. I got my fall garden in a few weeks ago. I just have spinach and chard to replant. I haven't put anything up for the winter, but we are enjoying all the fresh veggies. The potatoes in the feed bags yielded about 5 lbs each and they were perfect. I would do it again.

Her fairy garden is really doing well and filling out, those fairy plants you gave me (what are they called again?) are doing well in there, so is the canary nasturtium, and the four oclocks have taken off now. It should be insane in there next year. She has had several critters move in... several peepers, all matter of insect, and a pair of hummingbirds. I will try to get some pics.

We are going to the NJ state fair this week. I love the ag buildings.

Pip! Give Chewy a happy birthday hug for me. They are a year old already!!! August 1.

Sorry to hear you are in relapse. I hope they find the right meds quickly.
Chewy is doing really well and his brother Levi came to visit tonight. They are up from Virginia for the week. They all recognized each other, they are so cute, Levi is much stockier than Chewy. But then again the vet told me to keep Chewy on the thinner side.
OMG my garden is running away too! My beans are like on steroids! Those little chickens are huge but Toasty is still the top chicken!
My construction is moving along. We were away for a business trip and came back to the "road closed because of water main break" sign. It was OUR water main break. They had a small backhoe in the front garden and the whole thing was dig up!!!
Thank goodness I chose the contractor I did. He is soooo nice. He has taken control of everything.
I was going to post this last night but fell asleep...zzzzzzZZZ

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to add a Wheaten or blue wheaten Ameraucana rooster to my flock. PM me with any info.

Also looking for a Black Copper Marans pullet.

Thanks!

Morning All, nothing like 13.57 inches of rain to wash away chicken poop. My girls wished they were ducks for a while yesterday. Rain in our detached garage , nothing else thank god. Two streets down roads are closed due to flooding. The house right across the street has 4ft of water and it was still rising as of late yesterday. Our house is the 'World According to Garp ' home. Hurricanes, blizzards, record rain ...nothing.

That is a serious lot of rain. I wish we had some of it. Things are soooo dry up here. Of course, the girls love it. They can dust bathe all over the place. I about broke my ankle in a hole they left in the middle of the yard. I mean, why would I watch for dust bowls in the middle of the yard??? Geesh.

Gardening has been good this year. I made tomato soup from my cherry tomatoes yesterday. It was a little on the seedy side, but wow, was it delicious. I really need to get canning and freezing though. I gave up on weeding the pumpkin patch, so who knows what is going on in there, it is a riot of weeds, wildflowers, and squashes, all fighting with one another! I have trapped 5 woodchucks so far this month. Going for the record this year. They are destroying everything around, even more than the deer (and they have been bad too). You would have thought that this winter would have decimated the creature population, but apparently not. Even the bunnies are prolific this year (usually the hawks and owls have eaten them all by now).

Morning All,

Jdaly, sorry I can't help you..

Christina how are you feeling? I so wish we lived closer. The beans you gave me will not say die. I'm harvesting off my second crop and your beans are still giving me plenty.. I am so sick of cucumbers. I'm ready to pay people to take them.another ten pounds yesterday.

Morning All,
I know you are out there. What has happened to us?

Christina how have you been feeling?
Pip how is the "new" place?
Hope everyone had a great summer.
Labor Day weekend has always depressed me. I hate it.

The girls have loved this summer. Still haven't broken the one broodie. I've tried locking her in the tractor with only food and water.... Nothing
I didn't do anything this summer. I really need a vacation , even if it's for 3days.
Has anyone ever gone on one of those river cruises through Europe? I think I might do it next year. I figured if I plan something now then maybe it will happen.
Garden was great . Put in my winter plants awhile back they are looking good.

Everyone stay safe....

Hi! I have been slammed at work. I am feeling ok. Really sick of going to doctors and having tests. My garden was going great until this dry spell hit. I still got those noodle beans to grow though! Those things are crazy, they are almost 2 1/2 feet long now! My scarlett runners are climbing the trellis I put in for them and the roses. I love them, thanks Carol! I put in another round of peas and greens a few weeks ago. We will see if they do anything, it was so dry.

Today we went to the sunflower maze in sussex county. 1 million sunflowers! Last year they were all 6 - 7 feet tall. This year they were all under 5 feet. They said it was because it was so dry before they flowered. Apparently they need a lot of water while they are getting stalk growth going and then they stop when they set the flower. It was still amazing. I mean, even short, 1 million sunflowers is so fantastic.
