Now I'm wondering when Aggie will start laying! Never satisfied.

I wish I could keep roos here. They are so gorgeous. Roberta's boys are phenomenal.

George,

That is a cool looking coop. Our Agway has coops, but all of them are the larger varieties. Yours is definitely a well made coop. Lots of luck with it. I really like the run you did outside of it too.

I'm with Al. I like the run area. It looks like it's easy to access. May I ask where you got it? Was it also from Agway in Riverhead? I love that place.

Thanks, gang. The run was easy ... that's just some sectional garden fencing from Lowe's. It wasn't too pricey ... comes in a two-panel set, which each piece roughly 3'x3'. That fencing has come in *very* handy a number of times -- keeping the dog out of things, protecting some of my trees and the garden when I first started them, and now, keeping the chickens in. Money well spent!

The run is basically 6' long x 3' wide and 3' high. The lid I made with chicken wire and some wood I had out in the garage. I can lift off the lid and pop out the end panel really easily to get in there for cleaning or changing out the water and food.

No eggs today ... I guess the 2nd straight day of darkness, rain and gloom didn't promote egg laying!

Morning, all.
Al, I have finally graduated to chemo drugs. Methotrexate, something like that. Yippee.
I can't wait to go to Massachusetts Jan 14-15
BIG show there, I hope there isn't a blizzard. The Northeast Poultry Congress.
I have already admitted in that thread about the brooder setup in the motel room, and possible FD visit.
What we won't do for good chicks!

Roberta, you are on the same drug they put me on. I take 15mg per week. I now do the injectable version so as not to get the heartburn it causes in the pill form. Soon I will be graduating to a biologic like Enbrel.

Take all the precautions with the MTX seriously. You don't need to have a liver problem added on top of everything else. It can take 3 months for the med to work, so don't get disappointed if the relief is not immediate.

Good luck, and I hope it does the trick for you.

Yay. My Dr said something about folic acid for the heartburn?
Can't start till next week, when I am off the antibiotics for my bronchitis.
I am used to things happening slowly, no problem there.

Folic acid is what you have to take when the MTX. I started out with 1mg tablet per day, now I'm up to three. You can get mouth sores if you do not take the folic acid. I had started to get one and the rheumatologist upped my FA to 3mg.
