I must confess, I didn't want to eat it because it had a hole in it. (not enough hay in the nesting box, I think) I figured better safe than sorry. I made another hole in it to blow out the inside so I could keep the shell (although it seems especially fragile). I was curious about the color of the yolk, too. (beautiful orange) So the dog got a nice little treat.

Since Sunday, Gladys has laid two more eggs. One Tuesday and one today. Today's is noticeably bigger than yesterday's. Once I get another one, we are going to have a nice little omelet!

Yeah go Gladys ! I can't wait to get my baby chicks, all I do is read about chickens and look at websites
that sell chicken coops. Some of my friends think I'm crazy they say chickens smell. I've owned 2 parrots
So I know about bird dust and keeping the cage clean and dry. Does a chickens smell more than a parrot?
I plan on cleaning under the roost daily and giving them a dust bath area in the run.

Oh I got off topic lol, Grats on your eggs. I'm sure that omelet will be the best you ever had !!!

People look at me like I'm crazy when I talk about my chickens. Bobby too. But I love watching them pecking around in the yard (the chickens, not the people) and there's nothing like the thrill of getting the eggs out of the nest!

When's the last time their hobby made them breakfast??

BTW, when I checked for eggs at 8am, Gladys hadn't laid one yet. Later, Bobby sent me a text message saying, "You're a grandmother!"
