Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Little George came to my house tonight. Not used to being handled. No, I don't think so, George.
I put him down on the floor in the kitchen, he checked out a few things, 2 minutes later, he jumps up on the couch.
Put him down on the floor, hops back up, same spot. Maybe he'll move on his own. Yes, hops up on the arm of the couch, and puts his foot on the remote.
He looked quite comfortable there, too bad I had my camera downstairs.
He's a real sweetie, so far.

Sounds like he's made himself at home, Roberta! LOL

He must be super happy that he's allowed inside ... I couldn't let him in the house -- much less onto the couch -- thanks to the ever-hungry beagle who barely lets me use the couch!

Thanks again. Glad he's found a home with you.

With George gone, since the flock is a little out of sorts anyway, I figured this would be the perfect time to once again attempt to introduce the two young Plymouth Rocks to the three remaining Japanese Bantams, and get everybody settled into the new coop. Did it at roosting time, so all's quiet so far. We'll see what tomorrow brings! Hopefully, peace will reign, with no damages to anybody.

I'm unsure of Gladys's age because she was a rescue. I estimate she was born in middle to late June. Agatha (the Rhode Island Red) was hatched July 5. My other three chicks - Wanda (Barred Rock), Aretha (Black Australorp) and Shirley (Golden Comet) - were hatched September 26.

I think Aggie will start laying soon. She looks as ready as Gladys did right before she started. I love my chickens!!

I can't wait til you have a yard full. It's such a great diversion. I actually stopped home at lunchtime today just to check for eggs.

Yeah, I'm not addicted or anything...

Chicken strike. Day two without an egg. Bobby thinks Gladys is hiding them in the yard. I've looked around, but haven't found anything. Do hens start consistently or is it hit or miss at first?

Another hawk attack on a pigeon. They seem to like to bring take out to my house.

Not having a good day. Bad attitude and creeping depression. Need me some eggs...

It will be hit or miss in the beginning. They have not fully gotten the plumbing online yet. Plus, it has been colder and the days are short.

Give Gladys time and she will produce enough eggs to keep you satisfied.

Btw, how's the countryside Organics working out for you?

Morning, everyone

I can't believe it's ony 2 weeks, and then PEACE. The weather has been holding off nicely down here.
Hatching eggs like a fool.
Started my chemo drugs yesterday, so far, no crazy side effects. Lets see if these work.....
I have to seriously do some cage cleaning today, and maybe cards. If I get that done, I'll be a week early.

Or, I will probably just stay on BYC all morning.....

Roberta, got to get those chores done. If you get that day after chemo reaction it might hit you this afternoon. Usually, it is fatigue and a headache. Hope you don't get either one and that it does make a difference for you in the pain dept.

BYC all day...why not!
