I did go to Agway. Got treat balls for the girls for Christmas. (Lots of eye rolling from Bobby over that one).We looked at heaters for the waterer.

I have hay that I use for the nest boxes, thanks.

I'm glad the aches and pains are the worst of it. Does eating help the nausea? When I get vertigo (which happens sometimes - good opening for a joke there) eating crackers helps settle my stomach.

I'm off Friday, which is nice to have a jump on the big weekend. How about instead of baking, you like on the couch and watch corny Christmas movies with a blanket over you? Big mug of hot chocolate, etc.

DH does absolutely nothing to help. So I am trying to get everything done for that stinkin holiday this week.
I have learned to not enjoy it as much, because of his family, long story.
Just put me in a coma till after New Years, and I'll be fine.

Somehow on my break at school I managed to invite 27 people to my house for the day after Christmas. Ack.

You fine ladies were up early this morning. I figured I needed to catch up on some and got up later than usual. Let the goals out this morning and it must have been in the teens. The coop had gotten down to the low twenties when I last looked last night. They're perky this morning.

Roberta, do you take the folic acid with the chemo? I take three a day and it helps. I do the injection and that's coming up right after I post this.

Suzanne, you still didn't get the waterer heater yet? Haven't you guys gone down to below freezing in the night yet? I can tell you the metal one works real well. It is huge, but it definitely works.

I attempted to do a little coop cleaning yesterday. I left the light on, and when I went to shut the pop door for the night I see light coming out of the door and windows. It looked like they were having a party in there. They went inside but didn't hop up onto the roosts. I felt bad turning it off, but they need their sleep.

Al, I know I have it somewhere. I want to look for it, before I buy something else to add to the full house.
So far, my stomach hasn't been bothering me that bad. YET.

All my waterers were frozen enough that I had to bring inside, poking a hole with my finger didn't work this morning.

I'm holding off bringing Peaches and Brooklyn outside. Looks like they are going to winter out in the basement.
I'm worried about the temp difference, I felt bad throwing them outside, but it hasn't warmed up enough this morning.
What's a few more?

Actually, Bobby worked up a heater using a "swirly" bulb and an unused paint can. It's completely waterproof and throws off just enough heat to keep the water unfrozen (we think). It also has a much smaller "footprint" than the metal heater we looked at. Gonna set it up tomorrow. The waterers have frozen up twice. I go out first thing and refill them with warm water. They only freeze overnight so it's okay.

Lately, the girls haven't been going in on their own when it gets dark. I don't know if they're bothered by the squirrels who visit the coop during the day or by the motion sensor lights Inspector Gadget installed. Did you ever read "Click Clack Moo"? It's a kid's book (occupational hazard) about cows who type demands for the farmer. I'd like it if the girls could tell me what they need!

For all the long islanders: I'd like to get four more point-of-lay pullets in the early Spring. Standard size, not bantam. Would prefer docile, friendly breeds, Easter Eggers, Buff Orpingtons, Marans.
Anyone have some for me?????? They'd be hatching out now in your flock, so they'd be point of lay by March or April. I can travel anywhere in Nassau, Suffolk, or lower Westchester.

Do any of you have a list of the email addresses for all the Southern NY backyardchicken members and I'll email each of them with this same inquiry? Thanks.

I don't know many people that do vaccinate in small flocks.

I will have Marans, but they will be my culls, as I am trying to breed show quality.
