Welcome Jersy Hen!

My iPhone doesn't like the new site as much, oh well
I'll make do.

I'm so excited my good friends new fella is gonna build me a
Chicken coop!! I won't have to get a mortgage to buy one!!!!
He used to have a Bed & Breakfast and raised his own chickens
and built his own coops so should be good. I'll have more money
for chickens !! I'm gonna see if I get complaints before I go over
the limit tho.

Um oh as far as vaccination goes I'm only doing mareks cause they
do that before they ship. I thought about vaccinating them myself for
fowl pox and Newcastles/Brochitis but seemed silly to order 1000 doses
of vaccine for 6 chicks so I decided I'll risk not doing it.
I'm planning on using DE in dust bath (for mites) and in food for worms
I may take poop samples to my vet twice a year cause my dogs use the same yard
and I even tho they are on monthly meds theres prolly worm eggs somewhere. poop screens
are cheap enough. If they have worms then I'll worm em.

I'm going to use soy free organic feed, so they arent eating pesticides and synthetic/plant estragens
but I will treat them with modern medications IF they get sick. I might keep a broad spectrum antibiotic on hand cause I'm not taking chickens to my vet ( I say this now)

But anyways don't listen to me cause this is all theory I don't have any chickens yet LOL
I did have a parrot tho. /shrug

- Karen

I want to feed them soy free organic feed so they aren't exposed to all the pesticides

I had my chicks vaccinated for Marek's, but I haven't done any other vaccinations. I kind of stay away from stuff like that, even with my dog. It's a fairly controlled environment. Except for squirrels, don't get much wildlife here. Have I mentioned that I have the fattest squirrels anywhere in the world?

Picked up the new car tonight. LOVE IT!!

And, I'm picking up a pre-owned EE tomorrow. Low mileage, one owner. *Thanks, Roberta!* We can have green eggs and ham for Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2nd. (See what happens when you spend all your days with 7 year olds?)

I'm planning on taking the new wheels up to Springfield on Saturday. OOOOHHH BABY! Road trip!

Hi, Jersey!
Are you going to the show?
I don't know if you know Mame1616, we'll be roomies this weekend.
She's with the Sussex County Poultry Fanciers.
Ok gotta go, can't type with a big rooster on my lap.

Welcome!
Roberta

Which show? The one in MA? I can't make that one, but I am looking forward to the sussex county show. I live about 20 minutes from branchville. I have chatted with mame1616, she was very helpful when I was preparing for my fuzzies to show up in april.

Just set Rhonda up in the "guest room" - a dog crate facing into the chicken coop. When I got her home, the girls thoughtfully went into the coop so I could release Rhonda and let her poke around a bit. She flew to the roof of the coop. Methinks she's going to challenge Gladys for top spot! She seemed a little frustrated at not being able to go into the coop with the girls, but the last thing I need right now is a chick fight. Tomorrow morning, after Gladys and Aggie get the job done, I'm going to let Rhonda have the coop and the other girls can free range. That way they're separated, but still able to interact. And Rhonda can get used to the coop.

And yes I cranked the new MP3 player on the drive to Smithtown. Roberta, you look mahvelous. And Rhonda is a gorgeous bird.
