Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Suzanne, Good to see the progress on the coop. Keep us posted with pics. Yesterday I moved my first coop closer to the big one. I plan on sending the little ones out in a week or so. With a heat lamp of-course.

In honor of St. Patrick's Day (neither of us is Irish, although we both LOOK Irish) we had Irish bangers (sausage) oven roasted with red potatoes and onions. Yummy!!! I'm not a big fan of corned beef and cabbage, although I do love corned beef hash (with eggs over easy).

Great. Now I'm hungry and I have to get ready for work....

I gave Bobby the day off yesterday, although he did go to Home Despot to pick up more 2x4s.

Rich, how's Buff this morning??

Hmmm, Bobby does nice work.

Rich, It could be something stuck, or the beginnings of a cold. Keep an eye on them.
The VetRX is a good preventative, if you can get them to behave when you are rubbing it all over their faces.
Usually it goes away, as long as they are healthy, which you don't have to worry about.
And remember, allergy season is just starting.
My daffodils are starting to pop. Along with my ears, and nose, and face. UGH.

Wow, I went to Mohegan yesterday, and there are 27 posts when I get back on.
Of course this new system doesn't tell me....
NO, lost money, thanks for asking.

Suzanne, I know the chicks are coming, I keep hoping one of my buffs goes broody so I can slip the babies under her! Keeping my fingers crossed that happens!

My coop is only 2 feet away from our neighbor but it's probably grandfathered in because it's so old. Hope so, anyway!

As far as the neighbor's raised deck and fire pit, be careful of embers that might make their way over to your coop, hope it's situated far enough away so that isn't an issue. We put in an in ground fire pit that is close to our coop and I always worry about an ember landing on top, that would for sure be disastrous. Also, the smoke from the fire pit can be a concern as well.

Thanks, Donna. His fire pit is far enough away so it's not an issue. Plenty of trees to ignite in between, anyway! We haven't used our fire pit since we got the chickens. Good thinking about the smoke, though. Hadn't thought of it. Little Miss Firefighter usually gives us grief about using the pit, anyway.

Roberta, go to your profile and edit subscriptions. You can set the options to get notified every time there's a post. Of course, then you would have had 27 emails...

It took me a while to see reason, but I decided not to hatch the LavOrps now. Wait! When did you become the voice of reason??

As we say in my family, "If I'm the voice of reason, we're in deep chicken poop." (edited for family viewing)

Roberta I hope you are right. I will try the VetRX if she continues coughing. Sorry to hear you donated to the Indians.
