Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

We almost had to evacuate my boyfriend's horse in Manorville but fortunately fire didn't cross LIE. We're north of LIE so not even smoke. Would have been ALOT of animals to evacuate! Glad you're safe stoopid!

Well all was quite in the neighborhood this morning.I gave the two Buff laced polish roosters to a little boy and his mom . They live in South Hampton on 6+ acres. All is good..Now I have to figure out what I'm going to replace them with. I'm thinking a Russian Orloff and a Salmon Fav.

So glad everyone is safe! Now, onto the chicks..... :)

Suzanne, are you taking the day off on Friday or Thursday to be there when they come? I would love to come pick mine up during the week since we are supposed to visit our puppy in the opposite direction on Saturday. Let me know if that's ok and/or what time is best for you. Thanks!

Yes, I am planning to take the day off. Just not sure if it's going to be Thursday or Friday. I'll know by tomorrow. I may take both days. Just because I can. What are they gonna do, fire me?

Oops. They did that already!

Would love you to come down either day. Can't wait to meet you...

Chicken frenzy at my house. Bobby finished the electric and insulating the coop and started putting in the ceiling. He's using a pine paneling that he put in the room he built off our bedroom. Very rustic and cozy. We're using cheap (cheep) paneling on the walls so I can wash it down.

I came home at lunch to check on the incubator. I called chickensforbackyards.com to make sure the chicks would ship today. They said yes, but so far no tracking information. I didn't know whether to take off tomorrow or Friday for their arrival. So I decided to take off both days.

(It's like my theory about shopping. If you can't decide, buy them both. You should see how many pairs of shoes I have!)

Hi Suzanne, send me a pm when you know when they'll be there as I'd like to get them as soon as possible because I am trying to trick Mrs. C into thinking she hatched them! Ha, ha! My plan is to sneak them under her at night which is what I've done before and it worked. I still have to get some starter. Also, what is the total cost again? I think you have my phone number - right?

Incubator whirring away. Replacement eggs on the way. Now where are the chicks???

After months of reporting my great experience with chickensforbackyards.com, I'm sorry to say I'm not pleased with their service. They say there were no problems with the hatch and the chicks SHOULD HAVE shipped yesterday as planned. But since the chicks ship from the hatchery, they cannot provide me with tracking information. "We don't do it that way." Well, they did it that way in September! Do you mean to tell me that in this electronic age the hatchery can't email them, or me, the tracking information provided by UPS or USPS? I find that very hard to believe.

Bottom line is, I have no idea where the chicks are at the moment. I could get a call in a couple of hours from the PO telling me they're here. Or not. Or tomorrow. Or not.

I sent Customer Service an email telling them how dissatisfied I am and how I will no longer be recommending them to people. I suggested they change their shipping procedures. After all, chicks may be "product" to them, but they're babies to us!

I'll keep you posted...
