Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Does anyone on this thread go on the NY chicken lovers thread and if so did you see the chicken that was born with No eyes...?

Well, after all stress, a million visits to the USPS website, emails all over the chicken world and about 54 text messages, I got a call this morning at 6:57 from the Post Office telling me the chicks had arrived. They let me in early to pick them up. All 11 seem healthy and happy. They immediately went to the feeder and waterer and are now doing a chick pile in the brooding box.

Heather's Salmon Faverolle (upper left corner) has kept up non-stop peeping, even while falling asleep in my hand. The hatchery marked them so we could figure out who was who.

The replacement eggs are in the incubator, and Bobby's hard at work on the coop. And it's not even 8:30 yet. Who needs a job?

(It's okay to give them electrolytes in the water, right?)

Been a long time since I've posted . :) Not on the pc much.....still keeping very busy with this new/old house. Actually going out to spring clean my coop today! I hope all of you are well and drowning in eggs about now.
I am down to 3 hens. Lost my barny to an un-explained death this past Monday morning. She was un-harmed and the day before eating out of my hand with no signs of illness. My other 3 are healthy and still acting normal. A friend tells me perhaps she had a heart attack? I just don't know.......but she layed jumbo dark brown eggs and Tiger Lily is missed.
I believe my silkie is on the veerge of going broody again. Maybe I'll get her some fertile eggs to sit on. Good time for a hatch.
from sunny staten island........ maggie
