Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Adorable. I always wanted an orange kitty.
I have 2 cats now and that's enough .
The CCL had another orange and a little buff colored one. It was all I could do to leave them there! Bobby's allergic, so Brutus is going to live upstairs with Laura. Good thing too, because there were sooo many cuties, I would have just loaded up the car with them. This couple runs a feral rescue program. They trap feral pregnant cats, take the kittens to adopt them out, and spay the mother cats. Usually the mother cats are too feral to be adopted and are returned to the colony, but they socialize the kittens so they can find homes. I couldn't even count all the kittens they had there. Most of them had been pre-adopted. It feels good to have rescued a stray - and to have supported a good program like that.

And my first chicken was a rescued stray.

They don't come much cuter than that.
Thanks, Al. The best part is, he's a total mush. I had to wash off his little paws and he was purring and dozing the whole time. He really took to Laura, too, which was the point. We were a little nervous about him being shy or aloof or even nasty, being a feral rescue. But the rescue couple really did a great job socializing him. A friend of mine who does feral rescue gave us a crate to keep him in so he doesn't hide anywhere - at least for the first couple of weeks til he settles in.

Our old girl, Fiona, has been checking him out through the crate. I feel like I'm introducing a new chick to the rest of the flock!

Which of course is this weekend's project...

Really cute kitty!! I love the orange cats-especially the males. My cat, Kairi is driving me berzerk with the chicks lately. All he does is creep around the brooders, and scare the bejeezus out of the babies.

I know he's just being a cat, but the sounds that come out of the chickies is terrible.

Oh today is the day to get my truck's oil changed. My friends husband is a mechanic, but he can't get me in today, so I'm going to jiffy lube for a quick oil change, then monday or tuesday I have to get all the fluids done, and see about my rear suspension since we camp alot in the summer, and my camper seems to bring my rear down alot. Memorial day weekend we go up to East Durham for the Irish festival

and since that's a 4-5 hour trip I need some help for my truck! The big girls are being taken care of by my tenant, who will feed them and care for them. The silkies are camping in the catskills with us, since I can't bear the thought of leaving them home with the cat, and Zen needs his vitamins and care, so I won't trust anyone but myself to be vigilant with him. We also take the dogs, and the cat stays with my tenant. (She comes in and takes great care of him, so I have no worries!)

I'm sitting here and reading. Think I'm procrastinating? Yup.

Ok never mind , compared to orp eggs they are dark.
If these are 5-7 on marans scale I need one bird that
lays a 9. Lol. Me and my rainbow basket is turning me
into a basket case.

Barnevelder eggs should be here tomorrow or sat.
Those are I hope a brown between these and orps.

My welsummer eggs didn't ship yet. I'm a I'll upset
cause I wanted to set together. Too many staggered
hatches.

A friend of mine, who lives in westchester is searching for a copper black Maran pullet. If anyone knows of one, let me know! (even down here she'll travel) she's desperate for one. She's an awesome chicken mommy!!
