Congrats! I'd totally save the egg Martha Stewart style.....blow it out and mount it to a plaque!

Congrats. The first egg is always very exciting! We ate ours but we had to split it 5 ways. The entire family got a taste. My avatar is a picture of the first egg being fried over easy. Mmmmmm!

We did a five way split too! Barely enough to taste, but it was awesome to have that first one.

Yup, barely enough to taste, since because the first eggs are so tiny. But every one was pleased and very excited.

Morning southern tier friends.

Went out to feed and water the girls and found they are still producing one egg per chicken. This is surprising, and I was wondering how the rest of you all are finding it?

Had some sun out a few minutes ago after a night of pouring rain. Was 45 degrees this morning. Getting chilly out there.

Morning everyone! My egg production is way off, but it may have to do with all the stupid young roosters fighting for a piece of action.
I have started sending the bad boys off to Izzy's house. He eats all the misbehaving fools.
It was hard for me to accept at first, but my supply of places to send them to live out "on a farm" is pretty much over with.
I know he treats them well, until he feeds his family. It's a win/win.
The rest of the boys are going to be scrutinized until the show Oct 22. I have a sale cage there. I hope the girls are happy after I remove the monsters.
I have a bunch of Marans pullets that are just starting to lay.

Can you tell which one is the Marans egg? That chocolately one in the middle. I can't wait til I get those more often! Pretty!
It poured here around sunup, and now that everything is drenched, it looks like it may be a nice day.
