Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Good Morning Folks!
Tina, I hope everythings' ok!!

I am up watching the Olympics triathlon. I know, this sports thing is a sickness. :lau  "My name is Rosie, and I'm a sportaholic."  They're running the 10K now. the biking was excellent, but I did notice nobody has a pink bike like mine. (I'm SO cool)

My daughter decided to sleep on the couch, so she's rather irritated that I put the TV on at 4am to watch. (Heck, she HAS a room! She could be in it!)

I have to go food shopping this morning, early, then finish packing up clothes for our camping trip. We leave tomorrow, and come home Thursday. We're only going to Indian Island, so we're close to home. Of course Danny has to work a few hours tomorrow morning before we leave, but I guess that just gives me more time to get my poo together.

I signed up for the North Fork century race, Heather-have you ever heard of it? It's in Greenport, NY. 100 miles (I'm not doing all 100, I just got back into biking. I might do 50):th Apparently the rumor is, it's a flat course, so I hope I make it with no major problems.

What's every doing this weekend?

100 miles?! Running? Are you one of those ultra marathoners? Good God that's impressive. I read Born to Run and it made me tired just thinking about it. Honestly I am really out of shape right now. I don't know how or if I'll be able to do this race. :(

Hi all. Happy Saturday. I'm heading out to Hampton Bays to see my therapist. I'm fully stocked, so I have no excuse to stop in Riverhead at Agway.

I'm planning to go to the Fair on Tuesday as well. Heather, bring that kid along. I'm a trained professional!!

We have a graduation party and then a 50th b'day party today. I'm mad at Bobby so I told him he doesn't have to go with me. He's like, "huh"? I also told him he doesn't have to mow the lawn. I think he knows he's in deep chicken poop....

I've been doing my 1/2 hour exercise video for the past 3 mornings. Boy, is my back hurting today! Can't decide if I should rest or work through it. I'm such an athlete.

I'm jealous of Rosie's pink bike though...

My favorite part of not working? My nails are getting long. I'm like a Mandarin Empress.

Suzanne, I'm going to have the Volvo so do you want to ride together on Tues.? I can fit 3 or 4 ( and chickens in the back) Rosie, Toxic are you game?
I want to go to the West Hampton farmers market if Richard wakes up in time.
He was suppose to be at Foxwoods but canceled at the last minute ,so now I'm suppose to entertain him.
My son Adam and his girlfriend are going to the Chesire County Fair in NH today. You'd think a chip off the old block but not really. He is so the opposite of me it's not funny. He's his fathers son, I was just the pod for 9 months.

Good morning peoples!
It is promising to be a steamy day again down south here. Early beach walk and then some food prep to bring to a friends new home in Middletown nj tonight.
Nothing exciting going on round here lately.
I do have a hatch due late Friday. So far 4 silkies and an ee or 2..... 1 lonely blue orp eggie are still cooking I think.

I just started a thread about quarantine procedures... due to a recent heartbreaking experience. I would really appreciate your input ---->

Hope all is OK Tina.

Because of the scare of disease, I have actually only added 2 birds to my own group over the years that weren't hatched here.....or from a hatchery.

I did keep them separated from my group for the suggested 2 weeks quarantine period. Because birds are at first so darned good at covering up sickness until it has become debilitating to them, you just don't know for sure what they carry that the stress of moving might bring out eventually.
Like I said.....I hope everything is OK.

NO!! Biking!

Running, I'm good for a 10k and hopefully a half at some point. (It's on my bucket list!) I wish I had the stamina for ultra marathoning. That would mean I wouldn't have this extra piece of, well, ME, hanging off the back of me...(My substantial JLo)

Biking to me is SO much easier on my terrible knees (thank you high school track) and less work. I had forgotten how much I like to really fly down hills!

I want so badly to go for a ride today, but the heat is incredible out there. It's bad enough being inside and packing for camping!!

It's been a rough ride... Lindsey's new blue silkie passed away during the night on Thursday... the other two are back with breeder....and not doing well. It's been an intense week...24/7 nursing with an "infirmary" set up in my kitchen....luckily, I had these birds separated from the flock...we haven't told Lindsey as these birds were a birthday present and it will be terribly upsetting...she just knows the birds are with the breeder....we became so attached, so quickly...the breeder is going to work with us to find replacements at some point this fall...it's been costly and emotionally draining....

I am so, so sorry to hear it.

I haven't been great with the quarantining myself, just put them in a separate part of the main coop that is fenced off. It works for getting the pecking order sorted out but not so good at preventing disease transfer. We've been lucky so far. I did stop feeding wild birds in part because I'm afraid of the diseases they might leave behind.

When I lost my first hen last year it was so shocking. They seem like such sturdy beasts and then you realize just how fragile they actually are. I do hope you get some replacements.
