Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Is everything ok out there, Roberta? You have trees like I do. We lost at least one, how did yours fare?

A big tree came down in the driveway, and all the vines attached to it pulled down another.
Hubby was out there for a while, was just about to send out the search party when he came inside.
Can't leave the house, but at least we have power.
Blinks on and off, but for the most part, it's on.
Wasn't feeling too well for the tree inspection, will try to make it outside this morning to see what size tools I need to get ready.
Times like these I wish I had kids to do the manual labor.
Maybe not....

Kids are pretty good for that stuff, mine will be put to work at first light. Thing is- they eat a lot, and most days there's not that much manual labor to do. Hiring a handyman is cheaper and you don't have to chauffeur then anywhere!! Lol!!

Lol, see we do have a sense of humor in the face of disaster! Our whole neighborhood is dark but then that always happens, hence the generator. I actually saw the line go down in a blaze of sparks. Very pretty except for the no power part, ha ha.

Ah Heather- you're right. Sense of humor is valuable in retaining sanity in these situations.
I'm glad everything's good over there. I heard from Suzanne she's good, same as us- trees down spotty cell service, but ok otherwise. I hope more of us check in soon!

Ha! So true.

My husband reports that all is well at my house. No trees down, coop is secure and power stayed on. At my sister's apartment we lost power from 10pm-10am. We fared well last night. I barely slept and I feel exhausted from the physical preparations, but am very grateful that we are safe.

We had a nonevent here, but I watched the news from NYC and NJ. The water adds a whole scary dimension we don't even think of here. Glad to hear that those who checked in are well, hoping the rest of you are good too!
