Absolutely-none of the egg companies would want the public to see how their hens are housed and treated. One big reason I have my own now. There should be stringent laws. I doubt most companies could afford to free range the sheer number of hens they have BUT, a tiny cage where they can barely turn around is not acceptable. I guess more people have to stop buying the eggs in order for a difference to be made! Maybe a pen situation would work? Thanks guys for the great ideas, I have to get this finished by sunday so if it comes out interesting maybe I'll put it up as an article. I really like the point about free ranging being enrichment; just by allowing them to do what comes naturally we are enhancing their lives. I also agree that PETA is extreme in some cases. I don't agree with their position on zoos or circuses. It does take two extremes to find the reasonable middle though. I doubt Eggland's Best would want people to really see what their layer hens lives are like. Or that clothing mfrs would want you to watch the video of raccoon dogs being skinned alive in China. Ugh. Anyway, thanks! Off to catch a plane & about 90 other tasks....
I will not view their videos-my daughter used to then she asked me a really good question- "How could they just video those things and not do anything about it?" I'd never be able to leave a puppymill or something similar without opening every cage and stuff my clothing with puppies and breeder dogs. Maybe I'm an extremist. LOL!! I work purely on emotion sometimes.
Are you back to NY yet-it's COLD here today! I love going away in the winter, but it's torture coming back to freezing!!!

It made me so sad.
