Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I am seriously contemplating adding pheasants to my spring order. Lady Amherst and red goldens. Any of you raise pheasants? I will mean putting up a shelter and aviary for them in spring.
The farm I visited in lakewood NJ raises those Lady Am. amongst some rare ones.

He has 1 breed he is still looking for a mate for. It was a very expensive bird he couldn't even come by.

I was awed by their butterfly brilliant colors and. The males were simply awesome and fluffed up their spectacular plumage around their necks as we stood there. Brilliantd just amazing. I'd never seen anything loke them before.
His peacocks were gorgeous as well.....sigh....I am a frustrated farmer.

I don't have any but boy are they pretty. I am friendly with someone on instagram that raises ring necks but they are for hunting only and she's in West VA. She says lady Amhersts are tricky.

Morning All,
Donna I love the book.
Love going to the zoo, then going out the back exit and having lunch on Arthur Ave.
Mags, have you or your husband ever worked on candlestick telephones? I'm looking to buy one but will probably need it refurbished.
The repair guy was suppose to be at the house yesterday around 1030- 11 finally shows up after 6 pm to tell me he has to order the part.
I'm thinking I could stand up against it to keep it closed. While its running I'll just knit.
Started putting up Christmas stuff, what a chore that is getting under the crawl space with only one good arm.
And finally, Roberta you are one amazing woman. I'll be wishing for really good things for you in this coming year.

NO, I know know nothing about those phones but would love to have a working one myself! It would look perfect in this old house.

Maggie, how is Opal doing
Well yesterday afternoon there was a spark in her step! I had her in my sunroom, out of her crate and she kept walking to to door talkiong. So I set up her playpen outside and put here out for some sun with her 2 silkie pals. It was warm and beautiful out!
She was happy, began pecking at the grass and has been drinking more water. Appetite seems to be coming back cause just now this morning she's eating breakfast with them.
I will check her droppings after they are done and see what it looks like.
Her wattles which are tiny are showing pink. Her comb is still pale...... but not stark grey like it was sunday. I can see she is physically stronger.
I am thinking we're on the right track. By noon tomorrow the wazine treatment will be finised.....its the 3rd full day.
Should I then do the vitamins or go to the antibiotics just in case?

Last time I wormed my birds, it was a free for all. any worms that were pooped out were snatched up and eaten

so I don't know if you will find anything.
Maybe do the Amprol for a week, (and if one has it, most likely they all have it to some extent.) A few days on the Vitamins, and reworm 10 days after the first dose.
