Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

So sorry to hear about the A-hole and the eggs. :(. W
hen I return to Long Island after all of this, I would be happy to have your eggs shipped to me and you can pick them up. I am in Laurel Hollow, the last town on the North Shore on the border of Nassau and Suffolk. I also have the nicest mailman. :)

I should get an updated picture. My girls are much bigger and next time I'll put on some makeup LOL! Now that my husband loves the girls, I can get him out there to take the picture. It's so cute to hear him talk about the chickens. Now, they are "our" chickens instead of "Irene's chickens" :D

Donna, I've been spreading the word about your shop over on FaceBook. I hope that you see sales increase soon. I'm glad to see that you connected with the Chicken Chick. I was just thinking that your series of silkie designs and phrases would be adorable as a set of notecards. I don't know where you could get them printed...but I think it would go over well with all the silkie lovers. You could sell them over on Etsy...

So cute!

We had our first hatch due on Friday...nothing is happening...no pips...no movement...no sounds. I have gotten lots of conflicting advice over on FaceBook. One person tells me to do something, then someone else jumps on and says OMG don't do that!!!

I foolishly spent $85 on special eggs for this first hatch. They are a variety of smooth and frizzled WC Polish in blue, black, chocolate and cuckoo. I was hoping to hear the sounds of little chicks by now. I'm worried and don't think we are getting any babies. I'm giving them till tomorrow...
Any luck? Are the eggs tilting pointy side downwards? That's one sign I look for that its almost time

Hi all! Basking in the fact that Bobby and Laura have both gone off to work. I have some crocheting projects to work on, but that's about it. I've been hired to make a poncho (almost done) and a baby blanket (getting started later). Life is good. Now if I could only pay my mortgage, etc. I'd be a happy camper.

My sister sent me this picture on facebook. I did not make these sweaters. If I had, they would have hoods to protect those combs! (I tried to explain the down coat effect). Maybe I should be making chicken hats?

And here's a little laugh for you all this morning, although I suspect the guys will find it funnier than the girls...

So I am back, just in time for the first big snow storm in a while! At least it didn't snow during our flight. I had enough excitement with my oldest daughter vomiting before during and afterwards. Poor thing, she got the stomach flu, from her little sister. Who threw up once, everywhere, in the hotel room, and then was much better. There was also a bed bug infested Bolt dog I bought which won me a free trip to crazy paranoid lady town as soon as we got home. I don't think it was in the room long enough to spread but I still had to wash every single item that came home with us. I left the suitcases outside for 48hrs. I really, really hope that was the end of it. I don't think I can handle a bed bug infestation on top of all the other chaos.

Sorry for the crazy, I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed and Monday-ish. It doesn't help that John stayed in Florida for a meeting so he's telling me how beautiful it is down there still while I was struggling with two kids, puke and laundry.

Frozen streams, as opposed to -

Wild manatees in the marina!

All the chickens seem just fine, but one of them is leaving rather loose stools. None of them seem sick though so short of quarantining them all separately I'm just going to have to go with the crossed-fingers approach.

Yargh!!!!!

Christine that looks so good, you have no idea.... mmmmmmm.....

ditto that!

I remembered that Bobby asked me to pick up wrapping paper and gift bags for MY birthday gifts. So I went to the dollar store and spent $40. I left 4 rolls of wrapping paper and about 30 bags, plus tape, tissue paper and like 20 bows downstairs for him with a note that says: "Let me know if you need more". Sarcastic shopping. My specialty.
