That article is off base...research is often skewed in favor of whoever provides funding. This appears to have been funded by some entity not in favor of backyard flocks. grrrrr
Our birds sometimes eat better than I do since I'm always on the run.

Can I have you cater my next week's meals? lol

Ok, oops, I spoke too soon about the 16th, looks like the week between Christmas and New Year's is better. I am waiting for my friend to give me an exact date this time. Since it's not a Christmas Surprise now I will tell you - there are some very special animals at the zoo that are part of a collection called the tractable animals. We will be meeting Kevin, who is named after the bird from Up, and my new special love -

That is Kathleen, Kevin's mommy, who is also a chicken enthusiast aside from being an animal whisperer and trainer. She is currently chicken-less but I sent her the links to the NE Poultry Show and she might go. I also told her that we can of course hook her up with mystery bantams and assorted other chicks. She is super cool and nice, plus she is married to the director of the zoo.I think she possibly has the best job ever in the invention of careers. PS Kevin is an Emu that she raised from hatching -

Seriously? How cute is this?

They have other animals in the collection/house too, but i'm not sure who we will be meeting so I'll leave that as the surprise. I met an Indian Porcupine and a 2toed sloth. I just know how much you will all also adore Kevin, she is the best and so much like the chickens, only smarter. She wanted to take my scarf in the worst way possible and kept going to find it even after we hid it behind my coat.

So hang in there!

I'll get this arranged one way or another....

Lots of love and chicken-y affection -

Off to write an OpEd piece, clean the coop, hang the christmas lights outside, clean my office, put together gift baskets, check for presents that need to be ordered.... oh jeez can we just go ahead and add 24 hrs to today?

Plus I am actually on antibiotics now since my "cold" is officially sinusitis. they gave me codein laced cough syrup yesterday... nice....

I make mini baked breads for my baskets....you know....banana-nut......cranberry etc. I could eat them sliced/toasted with cream cheese on top till the chickens come home.

then it's up 1 size of jeans for the rest of the holiday season.
No kidding. I box them all up pretty and give them as gifts.

oooh, so much fun! Is this a kid friendly day?

I am seriously contemplating adding pheasants to my spring order. Lady Amherst and red goldens. Any of you raise pheasants? It will mean putting up a shelter and aviary for them in spring.

I want to move in with your chickens... they eat healthier than I do.
