Cool set up Carolyn!

My poop boards are set up like a cat box and I have filled them with granulated Sweet PDZ. There is a cat box scooper that I use to sift the pdz and sometimes use a reptile screen mesh scooper to sift it but it takes longer that way. The plan is to replace it with fresh once it thaws. I've got about 30+ birds in that coop and it's grossing me out even though it doesn't smell. Sweet pdz is amazing stuff. Minerals and zero smell. Totally safe too and that's important to me. Just wish Spring would arrive.. lol
PDZ????

It's a mineral that sold as a horse stall refresher.. absorbs odors and helps keep bedding dry. I works really well for chickens too and it's safe and last a long time. I just top it off every couple of months to keep the boards full. A couple of inches of pdz and a cat scooper = a clean coop. They sell it at Agway and online too.

There is a really great thread on byc on poop boards that talks about it. Do a search for poop boards and it should come right up. I highly recommend the pdz, especially in the summer time.

I like aruacanas and guess she is maybe a mix. I've hatched some double tufted/rumpless and they are very nice birds laying really pretty eggs.
Never had an Aracauna.. Have had Ameraucanas though, and I like mine. They don't lay constantly but they're sweet and their eggs are beautiful. Love me some blue eggs.. lol

Quote: Congrats on the new grandchild coming.. I have 5 sons....the 1st four grand babies were girls. Told them to get on board with the grandsons......the next three were boys! Still have two more sons to expand the family line. Being a grandparent is so great but I think it is a bit different when the mother is a daughter-in-law. The boys have to cater to their wives. You know the saying, "Happy wife, Happy Life!" LOL

Old saying: "A son is a son, until he takes a wife; A daughter is a daughter for all of your life."

Mazel Tov to all the prospective parents and Grandparents. It's wonderful, wonderful.
