Christina, when I went in tractor supply to grab a bag of feed a man stopped me and asked me what we were doing in the parking lot..I spent 15 minutes telling him about our chick swap.i think I converted another one.
Glad you made it home safe. It took me an hour and a half longer than it normally does.
The little black misfit has decided she is going to take over as top dog. Well see soon enough.

See, I told you that someone had to think we were up to something making an exchange in a parking lot

Too bad we couldn't have had lunch or something, but I don't like leaving the little ones in the car without being fully feathered. I hope the two girls didn't fuss too much getting back.

There are 12 birds in my brooder at the moment so there is too much chaos for me to determine if what are pecking order issues vs. curiosity and play. The one barred rock (the largest of the bunch) was attempting to bully Nemo a bit, but Nemo just gave her this funny look and that all ended. She did get her neck pinched a few times and one tried to tug out her bowtie. I am glad she is bigger than all the others so that she is a bit intimidating.

Lol, well we all know chickens are an addictive substance!

Ack. I figured I'd buy a new dress to wear to the wedding and looked around some (okay, a lot) in stores around here. I found 3 online that looked good, so I ordered them (they weren't expensive, I promise) and figured I'd return the ones I didn't like. The first two came today and I love them both! And I know I'm gonna love the third because that was my favorite, although the least "bridal". Now what? One's a drapey ivory sheath that is very much a second wedding dress - very sophisticated and doable with Spanx (TGFS). The other is a floral sheath, kinda watercolory, tight but stretchy. If I wear the ivory one, I may keep the floral one to wear to my sister's ceremony or the wedding I'm going to in May. Oooo. Good idea!

chickens, dresses, it's all the same...

This time next week I will be asking a million questions. We bring the four girls home next Sunday. They will be 9 - 12 weeks old.. We have been reading and planning and wishing and thinking for two years and now I'm like "holy heck, I'm gonna have chickens in west Islip!" I have dogs ,cats and kids....what if I hurt them ( the hens). My 7 year old has already asked her teacher to bring the class on a field trip to see our Chickens.

Yes but is at least one of them sufficiently "wow" enough to make your cousin jealous? ;)
Keep them all, you deserve it. <3

Congrats and it'll be exciting every step of the way! Just wait until the first egg is laid.
