Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I'd intended to introduce myself on this thread earlier. My apologies! I'm Patti, and my fiance and I live near Hampton Bays. I moved here from Massachusetts last summer. We have a German Shepherd, a mellow grey fluffy cat, and a vegetable garden. Our small flock of rescues has just 5 girls and a bantam mix rooster. They're our much-loved family members, and we enjoy the eggs! My interests are nature, T'ai chi as an instructor before moving here) and I'm a Reiki practitioner.

I'm very pleased to meet everyone!

Welcome Patti!

I love reading posts on here with a cup of coffee in hand. Some of them are so funny that I almost spit my coffee out!

Carolina, I have a daughter and sister with developmental disabilities. My sister is also medically frail and has had mulitple cancers and strokes. If you ever want to talk by PM or cell phone, I'm here.
Yesterday while changing their water, one of the braver chicks pushed the door open and proceeded to run circles around the living room with her wings up in the air like an emblazoned freedom fighter.
She dodged the dog, skitted under my son's wheelchair and somehow, for a full 2 minutes, managed to escape my grasp. Grandpa had to physically restrain the cat.
Seriously. NEVER a dull moment.

Rosie, I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I understand the desire to hang on and never give up. If the vet will work with you, go for it. It was explained to me that the cats likely will never block again after their sex change operation. Just be honest with your son and if youre a woman of faith, help him lean on his faith to make it through. My eldest son has a fatal form of Muscular Dystrophy and his very best friend in the whole world happens to be a 16-year-old cat. I dread the inevitable every single day. For both of them.

Welcome to our friendly group of chicken loving folks! I love Reiki and used to take my daughter for Reiki circles. I wanted to become a practitioner at one point in time. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of Reiki for humans and animals.

Quote: My ospreys arrived last well. They nest on the end of our dock. This is their 3rd year with us. We had the DEC visit last year and they were impressed with their comfort on our dock. The first year they raised a boy and a girl and last year 3 girls. It is always exciting to see Fred "sky dance" to reaffirm his bond with Ethel. (My DH named them). I will let you know when Ethel begins to nest. If any of you are big birders and photographers (need a telephoto lens) let me know. We can arrange a Photo Day!
