Did the lettuce too! I also planted four butterfly bushes last week along with an Amenclier (sp?) tree. Too bad I won't be here to see them..... :( I ordered them back in October. Oh well such is life. At least some butterfiles and hummingbirds will have a spot. I'm thinking of putting in some Mexican Lantana too, really hoping to get a lot of butterflies going.

I am very weary and on my way to bed, my youngest threw up all over the carpet. No rest indeed! lol.
Hi Heather, how are you? I was just browsing the posts and see you may be planting mexican lantana, is that a perennial around here? If so, where can I get some? I've been busy planting and planning around here. I had ordered a huge amount of seeds last year to start for the hummingbirds but never got around to starting them. UGH! So now I just did some mail order and am expecting plants this week. Hope the seeds might still be good for next year.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around, too many social media sites taking up too much time, LOL! I need to cut back somehow.

Hey Guys, I am busy busy too. I haven't yet planted my butterfly/hummingbird seed packets, oh well. I was going to look for the Lantana in the garden center near me. I also have a milkweed pod that I forgot about. Maybe if I get everything packed for my trip I can plant this afternoon. Not looking likely though. Yesterday was a very insane day. I rehomed the bantams to a family friend, and their new digs are beyond perfect for them. They are going to be living in an English Garden.

This is their new mommy holding them. She has done so much research already, I told her that she was way ahead of me when I first got chickens. There is also her husband, their daughter (my age), their son, three grandkids and a spaniel, so they will never be lonely for company. I loved my bantams and their precious little eggs but next time I will make sure to have a separate coop for them, I don't think it's fair to mix them with standard sizes. At least not these two, they never got around to standing up for themselves.

I am also still looking for a place for the other girls, I don't think it worked out with CarolinaIsland. I have a few weeks to get that figured out though. If not, I might have to take a trip to the Island to drop off some hens! Be prepared! I am also going to NJ on the 18th so who knows. I don't want to sell them to a stranger though, lol. How I have ever fostered puppies successfully is beyond me.

Donna, I am in sore need of figuring out social media better, namely, how to make it work for me better. I am taking up you all's idea of starting a blog and it seems like being connected is more likely to get me paid work than anything else. I don't have time to fritter away though. My friend Mary is starting a decorating business of some sort, she needs to figure this out too. Is there any sort of quick n' dirty online primer or course in how to make sure your "brand" is the same across several kinds of media? I need to learn this like yesterday. Maybe I just need to borrow some 15yr olds for an afternoon or something.

Alright, have to go find out why they've all been quiet for the last ten minutes.

Imprftme, what adorable bantams!

A sebright and a D'uccle? They do look so happy with their new Mom! We have 5 standard-sized hens and a mini-rooster who all free range in a large yard... so I am hoping the D'anvers girl I will be raising from a chick will intergrate well. Looks like you did a great job finding homes for those darlings.

May I ask what other breeds, standard and bantams, you have?

PS-- Everyone, when will the cicadas be here?

I know I can count on my zesty Barred Rock and spunky Golden Comet to devour any insect they see, and the Easter Egger, too. I expect the mini-roo to just stand there trying to use the bugs as mating lures: "Look girls, here's a goodie..."

Thank you. I have a Delaware, a White Rock, an Easter Egger that lays ivory eggs and a cross-beaked Welsummer now.

I know my dog is going to enjoy the cicadas, when are they emerging?
Oh and Carol I almost set my alarm for 4:00am last night to catch the meteor shower before I double checked and realized it's next weekend.

Wish me luck guys, the closing in Texas is on Tuesday and we had a good showing yesterday.

Happy to see their new digs!

It's funny mixing flocks up. It works the more space they have I think..... but certain breeds are very dominant and others so NOT.
My Delaware is walking a thin line right now. She is picking on my silky rescue and I don't like it at all.

Its a great day to get outside work done. I hope it stays like this for awhile.
