Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

Hi all. I've been to the Agways in Riverhead and in Mt Sinai The Riverhead store is way better on selection. For everything in the store! Mt Sinai looks like a ghost town. Only had about a dozen chicks in a Rubbermaid tub. I'd definetly recommend a trip to Riverhead.

I was in the Riverhead Agway yesterday and they had Red Stars and tons of EE chicks. Also Columbian Crosses (I think) and some others I can't remember. Mighty cute EEs!!

The women in my AA group threw a surprise bridal shower for me today. It was awesome! I got so many generous gifts and there were about 20 women there, including my daughter and Mike's mom. I feel truly blessed to have such good friends...

And now a little chicken humor for y'all:

Mags, I too love watching roos use snacks as romance lures. Too funny! My fiance Dave used a box of tangerines called "Baby Cuties" to lure me, if I recall.

SWEET! How nice for you!

Luck to you Heather!

Ok no offense to you, but I am returning your luck!! Last night my parents came over to help, and my mom ended up slicing her finger. I took her to the ER over her protests and she ended up with 5 stitches. This morning at 5am the airline computer called to tell me the flight I was on was cancelled and would I like to wait on hold for 15mins to talk to a person. Aaa! I am on the plane now though (Newark was still open) so let's hope the bad luck is over. Lol.
I had a brief moment of imagining Ruthie and J Lo in chicken diapers being indoor pets. I'm becoming a person that thinks house chickens are normal!! Lol. I am really losing it I think. I'm not sure how that would work with the dog anyway.

Hi everyone!

Suzanne, congrats again on getting married!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather, I'm no expert in social media so really don't have too much to offer in terms of advice. I just keep trying in the hopes that something will work out.

Speaking of bad luck (but could have been much worse) 2 HUGE pit bulls or maybe even cane corsos were about to stroll down my driveway this morning. I FREAKED out and yelled at the woman to come get her friggen pit bulls off my and my neighbors property. This is the second time in a few days these dogs have gotten out. Something serious could happen here if they don't get better control of their dogs. I called animal control and they said they'd give a warning and now my neighbor probably hates me but tough. Don't get those large, sometimes aggressive dog breeds and let them stray anywhere off your property.

ACK!!!!!!!! My hens could have been goners.

Goldeneggtees, I'm glad that you and your hens are all okay! You did just the right thing. It sounds as if your neighbor is being too lax with her dogs. Powerful protection breeds really can be scary when you don't know or own them, and to see them in your own driveway, yikes! Do your girls free-range in your backyard, is the backyard fenced? I'm hoping that your neighbor is more responsible from now on. I'm hoping that the warning from the ACO will help!
