Tribbles!!

My silkies are part time inside dwellers until the weather gets better. I bring them outside during the day, and back in at night. Last night as I collected them, the three silkies just mill about until I pick them up and put them in their tub, the showgirl is a little half boiled, and ran in circles, wings flapping... right into my leg. My sons who were outside to watch the round up were on the floor laughing.

I do adore them.
They really are silly little birds and you can't but feel very protective over them right? Between their small stature, bad eyesight and inability to fly they have a lot going against them.

They really are silly. They are designed to fail as a bird. maybe they'd be good as a guinea pig that lays eggs?

Mine are named Beaker (Muppet) Peri (like up Periscope) Dotty (white one-was supposed to be a splash) and one who my daughter named something from a video game. I can't remember the name, I call her "Smokey" she's a gorgeous dark grey.

Beaker is a partridge, and Peri is the showgirl, also a partridge.

Good names!

When I see pictures of Showgirls, I always wanna get them a teeny cashmere scarf. Too cute!

Has anybody here got a Barbu D'anvers? I'll be bringing home day-old chicks around May 10th. I briefly had a rescue hen who was a D'anvers mix, but she died after we rescued her, she was too ill (starvation in her old home). I think Friday, the science teacher I gave the eggs to for his classroom hatch project, may candle the 6 eggs to see if any are developing.

I so wanted to incubate them and watch the hatching myself. I'll never have hatching eggs or chicks again, so this was my only opportunity to watch. Ah, well. The babies

will keep me busy for sure!

PS-- Anybody doing gardening this year? Veggies, flowers? Whatcha got growin'?

I do veggies. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers usually, but this year, I'm expanding. I'm doing snap peas, corn, and I'm planting kale, collards and romaine instead of flowers in my front yard island. My neighbors already think I'm nuts-this ought to really raise some eyebrows!

You should see this total flake that is Peri. She's got a bowtie, but honestly, her neck seems SO LONG!!! I need to figure out how to get pictures on here without tapatalk-for some reason, tapatalk hates me and won't work.
