I want a Rooster.

Roberta, would the neighbors even notice?

I love my girls and now I want more. Something else. Something to extend my feathered family. I have 3 Ameraucanas but would like something that lays a different color egg, perhaps the dark brown or tinted pink.

That little turkey poult has my poultry clock TICKING. LIKE. THIS.
I have 3 Swedish flower hen roos if you want a free sample.

I just made pickles yesterday for the first time and it was so much easier than I expected...had a blast and can't wait to try them. Post the recipe you decide to use please :) I found one online that had good reviews but would love to experiment. I tossed some hot peppers in one of my jars and onions in one. My father is getting those jars. I did a total of 12 jars and will most likely bring a few to my food swap as long as I like how they come out. I was shocked to return from the wedding and find around seven pounds of cucumbers ready for picking and a ton more growing. Hopefully these turn out yummy

I made 2 types. One was Rachel Ray's quick pickles. Kind of week maybe they'll get better as they age. The other I used cooks.com sweet brine pickles http://www.cooks.com/recipe/4c1f87bl/sweet-pickle-brine.html still working on them so I don't know how they will come out.

My silkie mom still is acting like a velociraptor. Nothing can get within 10 feet of her (except me) without her attacking. She even attacks my dogs. The other moms are great. They are already sleeping in the big hen house now with their chicks. Last night I made a boo boo and moved the silkie and her chicks to the main hen house. Was woken up at 5am to the silkie attacking everyone feathers flying. Ugh. If I take the chicks from her will she get better or worse? Maybe try and steal the other chicks? I dunno she used to be the sweetest thing.

I have a teeny tiny Serama rooster. You can try him out, see how well he does.
At least he's within walking distance.
Or, you can go for the other one if we get him back here from upstate at Hippy Chippy's
C'mon, what's the worst that could happen?

Or you can have a beautiful Salmon Fav behind door number three. Born April 1st and was suppose to be a female.hasnt started crowing yet but I figure any day.
I'm hoping she's a cross dresser . Either that or a newbie was sexing them the day they pulled my order.she / he is the gentles see giant you ever wanted to see. I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. I should at least let her crow first.

How soon can a silkie go broody? I got my 2 girls at the conference in Jan and I think she wants to go broody.

Well the latest thing is my tomatoe plants are being eaten by horntail caterpillars. I have been taking them off and putting them on the potatoe plants. They are just amazing creatures.they can literally eat a whole leaf in a matter of minutes.

Silkies can go broody VERY early on. Before 1 year no problem. I have 5 now and it's broody silke nightmare. My hen who hatched peeps 9 weeks ago gave them up d 2 days ago and is knocking the snot out of her roo babies from the food dish. 'too funny..they just don't get it. Kinda sad..........
