Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

My hubby and I had our 20th anniversary on Wednesday. Did I get China? Platinum? No way, not me. I got a pair of cowboy boots and a day of trail riding. I love that he knows me well enough not to get jewelry. I hope we have another 20.
Congrats, its lovely to see people still happy to be married

They didn't have the little guy with the hammer smashing his head in.
Such bliss!

But really, we wouldn't be together this long if we weren't made for each other.
I just wish he would learn how to cook.
Or maybe just BBQ me a hamburger once in a while?
Ugh.

Congratulations to all you marrieds. Tomorrow will be 4 months for me and the Bobster. Still happy after all these months!

We got another dark brown egg today and a slightly bigger bantam egg. Woot!

I posted on Facebook that I have a hen that thinks she's a rooster, a dog that thinks she's a chicken and a cat that thinks she's a cow. E I E I W T F!

I just pulled a tick out of my boobie.
Hubby had to find a microscope to make sure it was a tick.
.68mm. DO THE MATH!!! Gahhhhhhh!!!!!!
I hate ticks.

And now I will finish my double Jack.

I hear you about the ticks! We hit a lull with them for awhile but while my in-laws little white dog was here last week we pulled 3 off him. Makes me creeped out to think what is still probably on the big black dog, the three indoor-outdoor cats. And us humans too. We must be missing tons of them.

Had a new experience tonight... Spying on the 7 girls all together in the coop with my kid's night-vision goggles ;)
The Wyndotte seems to be the bully, has had a few mouthfuls of feathers but no blood; one JG couldn't care less, the other has been wailing like a distant fire truck for two days and will rush and chase a bit but hasn't pecked.

Tonight they fussed a bit spacing themselves out in the coop, had to add some more roosts, but not much drama. Reconfigured the run so it goes completely around the coop now, no dead ends where anybody can get cornered. It was funny today, the new girls kept changing position to keep out of the sight line of the big girls. I'm hoping tomorrow will be calm and I can leave them for a week I'm Mom's care with no guilt!

Welcome back Suzanne have missed you...My girls are destroying my tomatoes also.
I don't think my little frizzle is laying yet. I am getting a couple eggs from my bantams though.

Congrats Christina how are you feeling.?
35+years for me.....that's all I will say

Bio I'm glad things are working out with your girls.

Went fishing the other day out of Captree with my neighbor....Didn't catch anything we could keep . All too small.

Mammo, how's your girl?

Please help if you can...

A neighbor of mine has to get rid of her small flock due to some personal issues. All LF females of various breeds, including RIR and a speckled sussex, they are hatchery girls a bit over a year old and laying well. This would be a great starter flock if you know someone just getting into chickens, as they have their pecking order already established. Healthy, clean girls. I believe there are nine. To make things easier for her and the birds, I'd rather try to get rid of the flock as a whole, or at the least, only split in two halves.

Middletown, NJ. Don't know if she can deliver, but if interested, I can ask.

Please PM me. Thank you!

Thank you for asking, but first congratulations to all you long term married people...impressive and in awe in a time when the word divorce is thrown around like chicken scratch...had to say it, lol! I'm on my second marriage and in July it was 11 years whereas the first marriage, though brought me 2 wonderful children, only lasted 5 1/2 years. The second brought me a step daughter and together, another son.
On to the sick chick. She has given us 6 beautiful, brown, inedible eggs in the last 6 days due to antibiotics, but she is scratching less and sneezing less. She will be on the medicine till Thursday so another 3 weeks unable to eat them. I wonder how long after the antibiotic before I can include her with the others?? She has a great new shine to her feathers and looking a little more plump and fuller feathered. She talks constantly now which is nice to hear and her comb and waddles have gotten redder compared to the paleness they were when we got her. She just seems more alert and lively and continues to twitch around in excitement when she sees the other girls.
Which brings me to the other girls. 2 of them have red combs and waddles and still haven't laid. They will be 19 weeks old this week and I k ow it could be awhile but the anticipation is killing me.
Anyway, thank you for asking and again, congrats to all you long time marriages and have a great week all!!
