Another beauty of a day here. promises to get hotter after today thpough. Well we managed to get 2 sides of the house completely painted. Not bad for this kind of weather.

Cute little story. Today, my wife, who did not want chickens in the first place, went to the coop for the first time to see if there were any eggs. She opened the door and saw two girls in the same nest box. She closed the door and came back a half hour later to see two beautiful eggs in the box. She had to call me at work to tell me of her good fortune and the thrill she got out of finding the eggs. Since only 2 of the chickens have just started laying we have not gotten two at the same time. Glad she was the one who found them. The old softie is giving in to her love of animals by getting close to the chickens, and now liking them. Amazing, and wonderful, as far as I am concerned.

Hot one here today, but the girls did well.

Whats up? Im in Mahopac (Putnam county) I have 2 redbro, picking up 2 barred rock and 2 americanas this weekend in Poughkeepsie. Does anyone know anywhere closer to us than P-Town??

That is sweet. It always happens when the eggs come it seems. People are so pleasantly surprised at how eggciting it is to be provided food in your own backyard.

Another blast of heat today................enough already! I am ready for fall already.

The heat has finally broken this afternoon. Had some rain showers earlier and the humidity is now lower and the temp has dropped to 81.

Got two large eggs over the past few days and found they were double yolkers today when we made an omelet.

Hope you all were able to cope with the heat and your flock did not suffer any losses.

We finally have a nice little breeze moving the air. No rain although the Yankees got poured on at the game today. I was jealous! LOL

2 double yolkers! The girls are making up for lost time. You should get them on a regular basis too. I had a nice EE hen and most of her eggs were doubles.

Gave the girls a water filled catering hall aluminum tray and they have been enjoying standing in it. Too funny.........
