Guess we both are going to stick around the homestead for a while. I need to get the electricity out to the coop real soon. I saw the wet snow forecast for here and I was like, another winter from hell again... If this proves to be as bad as last year we will be rethinking staying in NY for retirement. As much as I do love this state and all it has to offer, winter and these tired old bones don't mix. And to think I always hated the heat of summer. Getting past the 50 mark must change your body or something. Now I see why all those seniors flock to Florida and points south when they retire.
See, Al, when you're a 50+ woman, it can't be too cold! I'm glad all you need is rest to get back to normal. Before you know it, you'll be good as new! What does 3-4 weeks equal in chicken time?
Roberta, in all the posts going around, I didn't see a response to the request for pics of hatched silkie chicks. Don't hold out on us, girl. Shiprocked, eh? Sounds just like Bobby's kind of thing. Except for the part about running out of vodka.
I can now explain why today is a strange day. Last night at 10:30 I got a call telling me that a friend and fellow teacher had passed away. She had been diagnosed with untreatable cancer 3 weeks ago. This afternoon I got the call that I will be taking over her job. It's such a surreal feeling. She was a very special lady and a great teacher. Everyone who knew her loved her. It was so sudden and unexpected. She's got 21 second graders who need a teacher and I'm going to be that person. I'm devastated and honored and relieved all at the same time.
And I start tomorrow morning. My brain doesn't know how to feel.
