Woke up extra early with my head full of everything I have to do today. I feel a little overwhelmed at school. The kids are still wild, and I'm trying to get the classroom cleaned out a bit. LOTS of old stuff that can be discarded. I find the class is calmer when the room is neat and organized. But we're a long way off from that!

I've noticed a real change in Gladys's appearance. She's developing noticeable wattles, although her comb is still small and pink. They've been cooped up for the better part of the last 2 days because of the weather and everyone being at work. But I'm giving them free reign today. Bobby should be home and they just NEED it!

Can't wait to have some chicken time this weekend...

This weather is strange, to say the least. It has been so warm that every natural cycle is off by a few weeks. We still have trees with leaves on them, which is not normal for this time of year. It's 44 degrees in the coop right now and yesterday it was in the 50s in the morning. We're still getting the full compliment of eggs every day. Let's hope winter doesn't drop on our heads in one fell swoop.

I'm sure your students will get into the swing of things soon enough. I can imagine it is stressful getting things organized to your liking. It will get better in time.

I can't believe it is going to be Thanksgiving next week. Thought we had another week at least before it got here.

So true, Al. He won't admit it, but he likes being the rooster! He plans to finish putting up the chicken wire this morning, weather permitting. It looks like the rain has stopped, but one never knows.

I'm pretty much ready to leave for work, so I think I'm going to head over there early. If I can get some cleanup done before the kids come in, I can focus more on them, which is what they need. No one's been paying attention for too long!

I know what you mean about Thanksgiving. But I guess it IS kinda early this year. We're leaving Wednesday to head to Saugerties to have the big family feast at my younger brother's house. It's the only holiday that all of the siblings get together so it's sort of a big deal. Can't wait. And my first real paycheck comes the day before. Ooooh boy!

My brother lives near a poultry farm so we always have a fresh-killed turkey. Nothing like it!
