Still six out of six today.

Seriously, I don't know what to attribute it to. As my father used to say, "even the dumbest farmer can grow the biggest potatoes." Just lucky, I guess.

Morning, Gang.

Waiting for the rain to settle in. Damp, but going to hit 62 today.

I noticed the coop is about 5 degrees warmer than the air temp overnight. Looks like the girls can generate a decent amount of warmth for themselves.

Morning Al!

Gladys is so noisy this morning, I had to go into the house to quiet her down. Aggie's starting to join in too. I'm afraid the neighbors will complain.

I have a question for everyone.
My sister in laws friend has 4 chickens. We all live in the same area. She said she got a letter in the mail from her home owners insurance (Allstate) that they cancelled her policy for having chickens. Says they came to do a check up type of thing (which I know they sometimes do) and took pictures but she was'nt home at the time. Hubby says they were trespassing. I have never heard of home owners insurance cancelling you for chickens. Anyone else? Curious because I also have Allstate and now i'm worried.

I have Allstate too. I'd recommend checking her policy to see if there is anything mentioned about chickens or other pets. I know certain breeds of dogs are frowned on (pit bulls, etc.) but I never heard about chickens. I know insurance companies lately are looking for any reason to cancel policies, but I never heard of that. Is she in compliance with town codes?

Insurance companies are no longer in the insurance business. They are in the business of taking money and not paying claims.

Keep us posted. I'd like to know what happens.
