Happy Easter, all you eggers out there!

We're enjoying this weather, too. Bobby's hard at work on the coop. I was up til 3:30 am finishing a blanket I was crocheting, so I slept in. While I was snoring away, Bobby put down the floor in the coop. We decided on a dark linoleum remnant ($27) to make clean up easier. Next up is the insulation. He's just putting the finishing touches on the electric.

Here are a couple of photos:

And here's my blanket. It's for a 1 year old for his new crib at Nonna's house.

You know this coop would be considered rentable realestate within city limits - after it is insulated I recon you could easily get $750/month in rent - maybe more

Happy Easter !
Nothing much going on here. I'm waiting the arrival of a small movable
coop for the 2 chicks I have now. They are 6 weeks old already. I will
use it as a hospital coop once I get the big coop. Still have a month till
I get my 6 legbar eggs. Got the temp good on the incubator. I'm just
playing the waiting game now.

I'm sitting next to the incubator listening to the automatic turner and thermostat doing their respective things. Eggs should arrive tomorrow. I'm obsessing about the temp/humidity in the coop.

And working on another blanket. The baby blanket was supposed to be finished 2/9. I put aside my brother's birthday present to finish it. So now I'm doing my brother's blanket for his birthday on 12/31. Yeah. That's right. He'll have the 100 lb. tightly woven dark blanket in time for summer!

Quiet here today, too. Had a nice dinner (ham) and worked on the coop and the garden. I also baked a panettone for my Mom. Epic fail. I made a big one and a small one. The big one fell apart coming out of the pan. The little one looks good. I finally found a recipe I like, modified it slightly, but can't find the best way to bake it.

I'm going to put together a cookbook during my unemployment. What the hell...

Suzanne, your coop is gorgeous! seriously if there's a hurricane, I'm going to come by to get in there. That's really impressively built. Your blanket is beautiful too, knit right? I wish I could knit, my mother tried to teach me for years but I just dropped all the stitches off the needles. I can crochet somewhat but it's really better if we just leave me in the kitchen and the garden and stand back, lol. Good for you for trying Panettone, I never really liked it enough to try to bake it but I'm guessing homemade is worth it. We went out for Easter, definitely a better alternative than doing dishes. I started this morning off in the ER with what felt like an ear infection. $200 and 2hrs later, nope, you're just really congested. Take some Sudafed and Advil and go home. Argh. I really should listen to myself and not bother with doctors anymore.

Guess what the Easter Bunny brought me today?

They were selling it in the local chocolate store where my husband bought the girls their bunnies and, in his words, "Well that was a definite sale!" I'm not sure I'll ever be able to eat it, lol!

Wow! That's beautiful. Your husband sounds like a really nice guy! And is that your bedroom or a bed and breakfast?? Wow again. Very nice. Always wanted a fireplace in the bedroom. Hmmm... I bet Bobby could build me one. LOL

Hah, hah, just our bedroom, and thank you for not pointing out that the bed isn't made. I was looking for the best light. The fireplace is nice, it's a gas one that goes on with a remote control. I am 100% sure your talented husband could put that in.

I had a real wood stove in my basement bedroom in the house I rented in college and nothing compares to that. I love houses & architecture from 1900 - 1920, so many of them have fireplaces in every bedroom. There's still a few in our area. But of course there isn't modern wiring or HVAC and the plumbing is old.... in my next life I'm going to build a green house that is eco-sound in every way possible but looks like something classical and Edwardian. In this life I think I may or may not get an outdoor fireplace built this summer. I keep changing my mind.

Hubbie John is super nice and patient with the animals. I think he might even admit to liking the chickens now although he's a little scared of holding them. We had fun learning how to free-poach eggs tonight, i.e., just boiling water and a cracked egg. I'm not sure how's he going to react to the worming process though. Maybe I'll wait until he's away on a trip, lol.

Suzanne, wow! Better construction on that coop than my house. Bobby has a knack for coop building. And, that blanket is a beautiful piece of handiwork on your part. We had ham, too. No panettone, just pizza rustica and Easter bread. Hope everyone had a great Easter and Passover.
