Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

I put ground flax seed meal into oatmeal when I cook it. Sometimes you can hide it in a smoothie too. I was going to give it to the chickens but I thought might as well go the direct route. I found a big container in Marshall's for cheap. Their "gourmet" section has all kinds of interesting stuff. So addicted to Home Goods, bad bad bad!
Ruthie doesn't do the egg song but whenever she sees me in the yard she starts yapping to let her out. I think she thinks I'm only coming out there to let them free-range. So far only my EE makes an egg song, interestingly enough. There was something big and black hovering in the sky, maybe a turkey vulture, and they started in on their danger! rumbling noise this morning when the girls were out with me, so no letting them out until I'm out there with them.

a little off topic, but i love homegoods too! I once got Versace wine stoppers there, and All Clad pans for 29.99! can't beat it!

I'm a little panicky right now. My daughter and her boyfriend are out in Ridge fighting the wildfires. A lot of damage has been done, winds are out of control. I'm proud of their bravery, but praying for their safety.

I candled the hatching eggs and one of them is cracked, so I contacted the seller. She's sending me 3 more. They go into the bator tomorrow.

Lots of sirens here. I guess they're sending another truck out East. Gonna be a long night...

I was just going to post a message for you. I hope she is safe through the night, and that they bring a whole crew of firefighters by your house tomorrow to demolish truckloads of scrambled eggs. Terrible news about this fire! I hope the weather changes soon.

Nothing would make me happier than to have her and ALL the firefighters here for scrambled eggs in the morning!

Send out prayers to Roberta, too. She lives out in Ridge. I don't know how close the fire is to her place. I'm on standby for chicken evacuation...

I will. It's looking bad on the news, hope you are all ok in the morning. Thoughts with all of you

According to the news, the fire has been contained, although it's still burning. My daughter's company was released and she got home before 1 am. I found it hard to watch the videos - so scary.

I checked the map and it looks like the evacuation area was just south of Roberta's location. Sending good thoughts her way.

My lav orp eggs are in the incubator. The replacement eggs were shipped today, so I should have them tomorrow. And the chicks come on Thursday. My mom's coming for lunch today to visit her grandchickens. I'm thinking quiche...

So far, we are OK. Thanks for the thoughts, guys. As long as the wind doesn't pick up.... it should be under control.

So glad to hear you're okay. Been worrying all morning. Skies are clouding up, so maybe it will rain. I'll do my rain dance in the backyard.

Stay safe.

Glad everyone is safe. The man across the street from me has inlaws that had to be evacuated and their shed that had their quads in it exploded. Pretty scary.
