The red-tail hawk eggs are hatching out!

I looked at the site a few minutes ago. The mom is soaked, her head under her wing, and the nest is loaded with snow. Poor things. Haven't seen the babies yet.

I had a family of them hatching in the woods for a few years next lot over from me.
I enjoyed them until they starting eating my babies!
One month, they ate 25 of them.

Yikes! Well this one is up in Ithaca, so I don't think we have anything to worry about in particular. I hope!

I'll definitely get to me of them. We had tossed around the idea of going to this past one in CT but the drive was long and the weather was crappy. Plus, I have been feeling horrible for at least a week now. It would be fun for all of us to get together. I'm glad so many friendships grew out of this. That was one of the reasons I thought this part of the state needed its own thread.
