I'm on a break at school, enjoying the posts.

Not having a great day. Don't know what set me off. I'm a bleeding heart liberal, but being displaced from my job because I don't speak Spanish really steams me. I can't seem to let it go. Today I feel like I live in South America because EVERYONE in my neighborhood seems to speak Spanish. Okay, not really, but it feels that way. I wish I could just pack up and go somewhere else.

So I was home for like 10 minutes to give the kitty his meds and had a complete sobbing meltdown. My class is so disrepsectful and noisy, I can't stand them.

I guess part of the problem is that I started packing up my classroom today. Again. And I have a meeting after school and then 2 hours of tutoring.

Been thinking of taking tomorrow off. Just because...

Sorry to be such a downer. Trying really hard to rally.

Did you mean because you don't speak Spanish? Well, I'm pretty sure nobody can force you out because of not speaking a second language, unless you were originally hired to be bilingual.
How old are the kids you teach? Why would language be a problem? We do live in The USA, and I'm certain students who do not speak English take an ESL course, right?

Sweetie, your day will get better! Think of this: 4 day weekend is acoming down the road!

Thanks. I edited the post. Apparently, I don't do so well with English either. My union won't fight it because the district is hiring teachers for a dual-language program so the kids are learning to be bilingual. There's a lawsuit pending by 3 teachers here, one of whom is a friend of mine. This program is designed to eliminate older non-Spanish speaking teachers, and ESL teachers. This way the district can hire newer, cheaper teachers. It's part of the Federal Bilingual Education Law, but the district's fudging the numbers to claim it's required.

It's all bs.

Looking forward the weekend. Hatching chickies on Friday.

I always found the end of the year to be very difficult. Kids are whippy because the usual structure is out the window with parties, field trips, picnics, assemblies, and they all know summer is coming, and it's supposed to be great, but they really prefer the structure of school where they know what to expect. It is really hard that you are going to need to leave a school where you have made a place for yourself, but remember that August is a magic month, and if you are looking that is the month the administration gets serious and really moves to be sure they are staffed for Sept. Your principal can be helpful to you, if you get along, cause they all talk to one another. So keep on keeping on, and you can mourn after the year ends. If you can hold it all together to the end of the year, you might deserve a treat...Cape May comes to mind...or, come up this way to the lovely Finger Lakes area...know in your heart that next year will be a new and exciting adventure. Wow. I had no idea there was a push for students to be taught bilingually. Move out here-they're actually doing away with 6th grade foreign language. It must be your school district that is adapting to the neighborhood dynamics.
I'm so sorry you're having a rough time though. Ugh.

Have fun with your hatching babies!! I'll bet they speak your language!

Wow that is BS. If they want bi-lingual they should offer to
send their current teachers to learn Spanish not just replace
them.

My 3 legbar eggs, 2 mottled java, and 1 very active Appen spitz egg,
are in lockdown :D My last batch hatched early day 20, so these might
also. I hope they do cause then they'll hatch on my birthday. This is
the batch of eggs I 'cooked' with my new bator that's why so few of each.
I have learned how to use the bator now but figures I messed up on really
good eggs. Ah well. There's more eggs out there.
