Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

If you dont have.....get some blu-kote spray to keep the other hen from going back to the same red/bloody spot.

Coincidentally I had something similar happen in our coop yesterday. J. Lo is now sporting a very trendy looking purple patch on the back of her head. I think she was getting pecked because she gets broody and won't budge from the nesting box

Lots of good news. Congrats on college, Vet Tech sounds wonderful.
Great news on the fox!!! What did you use for bait? Could you ask the wild life guy to take it to NJ?
And, 20$ for a market canopy is a super deal, some people use sand bags to hold them down, even expensive ones will fly. The more shows you do, the more you'll perfect your system, set up and take down.
It's pretty gloomy here, it brightens then if I go ousted it rains...hard not to take it personally. Yoga tonight, that will make everything better.

Ok for you peeps that are used to country living this is probably not a big deal, but for a suburban baby like me, I feel like a bone fide mountain woman. Woo-hoo!

Now the wildlife guy just has to come pick it up and release it for me so I don't get a citation. He's coming tomorrow.

Poor little fox, he's all mangy and scabby looking. Still I'm glad it's not going to be biting my children / infecting my puppy. Photos later -
Wow! Congrats! That is huge. Fox are not easy to trap... which only makes it more suspect of being ill or desperate or both. Get that thing away from your family! What bait finally got him?

You are my idol!!

I'm officially a college student again. I start in sept.
Woohoo. Veterinary Technology. Now I don't have to
be a chemist anymore!!
I'm going to spend 2 days with a friend of mine from
High school her 3 yr old is having surgery wed. To remove
a lump on her chest. She also has to have a bone marrow
test. They think she has a bone infection in her leg.
Poor baby. They say it's not cancer but the kid has been
having surgeries since she was a few moths old. I dunno.
Anyways I hope my eggs don't hatch while I'm gone.
Bad enough mom has to care for 19 chicks and the 2
girls outside. Good thing mom loves chicks.

Wow, Karen! That's great news. Congratulations. So jealous. I need a new career - maybe I need to be working with animals!
