Thanks!

The meeting was Looooooooong, but they did have a pro from Zenith Helmets there so I had an opportunity to check out the really safe helmets for my sons. After my daughter sustained a concussion in Lax, I'm wary of the whole head thing. These helmets were NICE, and not that expensive. We got to compare them to the school issued ones...yeah-I ordered a Zenith. It's his early birthday present, and will perhaps save a few precious brain cells.
The "Moms" were out in droves. You could hear the gum clicking and the bracelets clanging, and the smell of hairspray and nail polish was like a pink cloud in the auditorium.

The coach that did the meeting is a younger guy, southern accent, and he's my daughters Bio teacher as well as a football coach. The "moms" were swooning. It was classic. He was backed against the stage (auditorium) leaning backwards away from them. I felt bad for the fellow, but he should have known and not showered this morning in preparation if he wanted to be left alone. The helmet guy was about 25 and he RAN out of there as soon as he could.

Okay, so we made our mini vacation decision. We're going to head to the Berkshires on July 2nd, go to the JT concert that night at 7pm, then stay the 3rd and leave on the 4th. If my brother's having his FoJu party, we'll stop in Saugerties for that. If not, we'll come straight home. soooo excited! I haven't seen James Taylor in concert in years and there's nothing better than seeing him at Tanglewood. We're staying at a bed and breakfast we've been to before and loved. I can't wait! (Don't ask how much $$)

Well, the part about the moms preening for the coach and helmet guy was funny. But the part about trusting helmets to keep kids' brains safe is, well, ...not so much. Scares the heck outta me.

Don't be mad at me or anything. I'm not trying to rain on any sports enthusiasts' parades. But deliberately butting heads and colliding bodies just doesn't seem like a well-thought-out pastime. For kids or adults. Just NOT.
I agree with you to an extent-that's why I really liked this helmet. It has shock absorbers. Very cool. But nothing compares to technique. They need to learn how to hit, in order to avoid injury.

It's probably not a well thought out past time!

But heck-at least they wear helmets and pads! (for their moms benefit!) My daughter got hit with a LAX ball in the head-out for almost 2 months with a concussion. SHE needs a helmet!

That sounds like a great time! I like JT. I'm sure it will be an incredible show!

Well deserved..... We saw JT in Boston a couple years ago .It just so happened that he was there the same weekend we were bringing Adam back to school. You will love him...You're right seeing him at Tanglewood will be great been there a number of times...( are we related some how????) I just never get to stay in a B& B .My husband hates people and that would mean having to interact with them. They have some great summer theater also..

OK so there is one pip and a couple peeps this morning. It is day 21 (late this pm) I can't believe I haven't told my husband that I have 20 eggs down stairs.
He had to do major surgery on the back of Kahleesi's head yesterday after he got home from work.I'll see if I can get a picture.

Al did those blinders work on your girls??? Don't know if I want to wait til they get here.

Has anyone ever clipped their chickens beak????

Bobby hates interacting with people too. We actually booked a room right by the front door because it's the only one on the first floor and so he can just come in and out without seeing anyone. So funny. I talk to strangers all the time. I compliment parents on their kids' behavior in public places, etc. etc. I think Bobby prefers the anonymity of a big hotel, but he also likes the cozy/antiquey thing of a b&b. And this trip is about what I want because it's my transition to unemployment.

Congratulations on your pips. Keep us updated, with pictures of course!

Too funny-my husband hates interacting with strangers too. He has the same friends from childhood, very few new ones (except firemen-they are exempt from his bad attitude) and if, heaven forbid, we have plans to do something with my friends (I love people!) he complains about having so much to do, and why do we have to go, and oh the husband is miserable...But once he gets there-he has fun. I think he just needs to make me miserable beforehand for forcing him to socialize.

Now, he's been making FDNY friends with guys that keep chickens! (I think he really likes the girls) He called me yesterday to ask if I wanted to adopt some older girls that one guy was getting rid of because they are past their laying stage. I had to explain the limitations of our coop and property and that we want eggs...I felt bad, knowing the chickens in question will be dinner. He sighed and said I was right.

When he got home last night he was all abubble about this guy and how he has a farm, and has this, that and the other thing...I almost asked him if he'd known this guy his whole life because he seemed too friendly with the guy to have just met him... Almost.
