Heather, that really is one mean roo imitation. You may be recruited as a crowing instructor. Kind of like a voice coach, except, instead of training crooners, you train crowers!
Is crowers even a word?
Ha ha, you should hear my quail imitation. I love getting the bob white male at our local nature center all frustrated. I've been working on speaking chicken to try and get the girls to come to me when I want them to. I read in Gail Damerow's book (Storey's?) that chickens have about 35 distinct vocalizations, and I believe it!

I think anyone that's been around guys just back from a fishing trip knows that crowers is a real word. Mine was THIS big, I swear!

OK! So, I went to the Doctor, my doctor was off, so it was an "Associate". I've never met her, but she's nice, I guess. It seems she feels it was either Heat Stroke, or a neurological event, either way she wanted to know why the heck I wasn't taken to the ER. Um, I dunno, my husband and I wanted to see Zebra? I know I'm a dummy, and I do tend to minimize the severity of my own ailments, but she's like "Well, you could have died, so then what would you have seen?"

She took blood, which normally, I give tons, and bleed nicely-it was a slow drip. that's not good. I drink enough, and I'm dehydrated.

So, I'm to stay indoors for the most part, rest (yeah, ok) and drink lots of fluids, preferably and non sweetened electrolyte drink (pedialyte-which I have the ice pops!) and just take it easy. (again, yeah right) I am going to give it my all, and she said by thursday or friday, if I still feel weird, to take myself to the ER, because with my insurance she can't order a neuro exam or test without the end of the world coming, the second coming of Christ, A letter from Saint Blase, or something similar. I have to avoid strenuous activity. Hmmmm...is cooking strenuous? This might work for me...

Here's what I'm looking for in order to make the ER trip: Recurring of original symptoms, headache, seizure, mental status change, syncope, and any focal weakness or extremity weakness. Due to a valve issue I have (not so bad-I still compete in races) she was pretty upset with me. My husband is going to verbally minimize it, then have nightmares tonight.

Thank you all, my friends, for your concern. I certainly would not have gone to the doctor without your words of advice.

Oh my, thank god you went to the doctor. I too was wondering why you didn't go to the ER that day; next time if this happens again please head straight there.

You forgot the part about the guys from "Magic Mike".
I swear every time that promo comes on the tv I keep on for noise in the background in the kitchen, I just stop what i'm doing ... and it's like a trance or something.... sigh .... oh well, then you snap out of it and remember that even when you were 18 yourself guys that built were more concerned with their own appearance than yours.

On a different but similar note, can I just say how shocked I am at how many women I've seen reading 50 shades of grey out in public? There was a woman on the subway - packed, crowded subway - another one on the beach with her kids - it's a little weird. I haven't read this book but I understand it's rather spicy. Not so sure I'd want strangers to know what's going through my mind!

It is great to be back from my CA business trip. New coop = Wow! Nutmeg = Adorable! Quilts = way more skills than I could ever hope for and I am in awe of your abilities.

As for me, lost another 2 birds to this fox. I have now brought in a professional trapper because this thing will not go into this trap. RIP Deeny and Cutie.

Glad you did go see the doc. I had thought you might have had a TIA but didn't want to say it and worry you. I still wonder if it may have been neurological, though. Slurred speech and loss of peripheral vision could be signs. Don't want to scare you but keep an eye out for any symptoms and then get to the ER nd have the neuro tests done.
Hopefully it will not happen again and you only have to stay hydrated. Good luck, and feel better.
I am agreeing with all you sad Al.

Welcome back and good luck taking that fox outta the picture. Sorry bout your girls.

When there are no hens, as I understand it...... roosters haven't anything to protect/fight for so they kinda co-exist.

Did you know that youir little one looks just like a silver sebright? They have no standard size for them as they are true bantams.
I had a golden and they are adorable, friendly and surprisingly adaptable. Mine even crowed! Her name is Peanut. She is the same size of my Congo grey parrot.
I thought she might be a Sebright too, although not a "perfect" one. She was doing fine today and I let her at T mix with the big girls but then Ruthie got bored and started chasing her a little too assertively so I brought Nutmeg inside. I gave her a nice bath and dried her off with the hair dryer on low and she basically napped through it all. I feel like I have my little Perry Katie back, a little lap chick to love! She's spending tonight in the travel crate inside. Something tells me she will be spoiled rotten. Now I just have to train the puppy to allow her to ride on her and I'll have a 1,000,000 hit YouTube video for sure.

Oh no! :(

You need a foot trap I think. Good luck, I'm rooting for you.
