Hey girls! Montauk was glorious, and as hard as I tried to convince my husband to buy a house so we could move there tomorrow, he wouldn't do it. He so MEAN! the kids agreed with me. Then we figured we could cut some brush and hide the camper so the park wouldn't make us leave...the couple in the neighboring site agreed and we were all set then BAM! my husband put the kabosh on that idea too.
Well, we had a great time, lots of sun, every day at the beach, and old man and I spent one night in town having fun. I did desperately miss all my pets, so I was glad to come home I guess. I'm sure the girls, dogs and cat could adjust just fine to Montauk though.
Anyhow, when I got home Sunday my cousin texted me-my uncle, who has Parkinsons (has had it for about 25 years) is in ICU and he's in kidney failure. He's my mothers baby brother, and I have so few relatives that I got in my truck yesterday and drove to Brooklyn to see him and my family. Brooklyn heights. UGH. So far away! In the 95 degrees it was really uncomfortable, but I'm glad I went. My Aunt is a mess, my cousin, Danny is trying to hold it together, and my younger cousin (by 3 years) Roselle stayed home, hasn't been to the hospital, and when I called her she wouldn't even talk about it. She's setting herself up for a lifetime of regrets if she continues. Roselle is 42, never had a relationship outside of her family. She's odd, but my only girl relative.
Most of my Aunts family have flown in from Israel so they were there. It seems the ICU in Long Island College hospital (Downstate MC) has no rules, and we had 5-8 people in that tiny cubicle at one time.
I've been trying to contact my older cousin, Tedd, who lives in Mass, but so far he's not answering calls, texts, IM's or anything so my next move is to contact his daughters on facebook and make them call him. Ridiculous. There's only 4 of us cousins left (my other older cousin, Paul, passed away years ago) Tedd, Paul and myself are all only children, so we have a TINY family. It's sad when cousins lose touch. We used to be like close siblings.
Anyhow, that's where I'm at, just hoping for some good news this morning.
On the chicken front, the girls were happy to see me. they all ran over. Then again, it may have been the tub of mealies in my hands.
