You have to know I'm all organic with the cleaners and the what-not here. I try... I try.... The only non-organic stuff is Lysol that we occasionally spritz when there has been a poo.Ahhhh....poor hammy.
Something to keep in mind. Any kind of cleaning spray or harsh cleanser's smell/fumes can kill small critters as well as fish in a tank. I learned the hard way on my 5 year old Hammy a few years back.Remove them from a room your cleaning to be on the safe side and good luck.
The broody moms ALL try sitting on each other's nests or even resort to stealing other's eggs and roll them on over into their nexts. It is comical! You have to know I'm all organic with the cleaners and the what-not here. I try... I try.... The only non-organic stuff is Lysol that we occasionally spritz when there has been a poo.
Spooky is seeming a bit better today. Fingers crossed, she stays that way for the week.
Question about quarantine - what exactly am I looking for while she is in quarantine?
Also when I checked on Broody Mama, there was smushed egg under her. Not one of the ones she is sitting on, turned out to be a thin-shelled egg which she has been known to lay in the past. Not sure if that was her or the Delaware though, since I caught bossy boots shoving her way into the nesting box with J. Lo more than once. She even kicked her out and tried sitting on the eggs herself! Which is hysterical because she is about the least maternal thing to come along since my mother. I think she was just interested in taking over or something.
Noted! I will stick to the 2wk deadline for sure. The broody moms ALL try sitting on each other's nests or even resort to stealing other's eggs and roll them on over into their nexts. It is comical!
Glad hammy is feeling better.
With Cinnimon look for respitory illness, strange looking or runny poops, pests on their skin, sneezing, coughing, shaking their head or any discharge coming from any place it shouldn't. Stay strickt to the 2 weeks though..... as stress alone can make a pre-existing disease they live with suddenly rear it's ugly head when their immune system is vulnerable.
I can't tell you how many times in the 4 years or more I am here that I've read posts about a seemingly healthy and great bird brought mayhem into a flock because it wasn't quarentined properly first. You really don't want to go there.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
LOL.....That cake has been there a bit...... so I must have passed my 4th year with BYC recently.Noted! I will stick to the 2wk deadline for sure.
What is the little birthday cake with 4? Is today your 4yr anniversary of BYC? Congrats!
how?Caleb, you should submit the last photo to the BYC picture of the week!
