Southern NY, Dutchess county and below

A friend told me about a cool website - skillshare.com. What a great idea! I was thinking of teaching a crochet class. Check out the website. Regular people go online and offer to teach skills they have. You arrange the class and get paid per student.

I'd like to see them do a totally online version, too.

Bummed...woke up expecting to go to the Sussex show....two sick kids :(
Little one caught her brothers cold and now my throat is sore. This is why I hate my son being in school sometimes...every week he brings home something...cough...runny nose....for the first four years of his life he barely ever got sick...now it's like a weekly thing,

The good news is he's building immunities. When I first was a teacher, I was sick for a year. But now it's like I walk around inside a bubble.

Having said that, I feel crappy this morning. Very dizzy and weak. Yesterday too. I think I need to stop exercising!

The whole preschool years are rough not just because they get exposed to everything but that age group doesnt' exactly have personal hygiene worked out yet. But - now that I have one in K and one in a 4's neither of them have gotten sick once this year so far. Me, I get everything, still, argh. But they are fine. It pays off in the end, trust me.

"Lookee! One of these rocks, is not quite like the others, which one could it be?"

(Tiana's still laying pullet eggs but they're getting bigger. Aww!)

The dog enjoys watching chicken tv too. Sometimes Ruth teases her and actually pecks on the glass on her side. Dutchie gets riled up and jumps on the door. Oh how amusing for all!

I think my D'Uccle is going to start laying soon. Her comb is getting very red, and the sides of her mouth are red. I am concerned though that she seems to be off on her own quite a bit. I was hoping she would have bonded with someone, maybe even the Easter Egger, but she's not the most popular girl in the flock. I feel bad, like I should have bought one of her sisters at the same time. :-( You know I am dying to keep her inside with me for company, but she's even scared of me. I need to give her more treats and stuff. Aside from the chicken diapers, is there a sane way to have an indoor chicken? Mind you my husband would not be keen on the idea at all, like not ever, ever. Or should I look for a avian companion for her? She tags along with the Sebright and the cross-beaked Welsummer but they don't really look out for her. Sometimes Tiana (W) will stop and turn around if Cinnamon is crying but she tends to herd Nutmed (S) more.

Gosh Maggie I may just have to come visit you and pick up a buddy for Cinnamon when you hatch out!

*How are you doing, Mags? I'm still thinking of you and your family. If you need to chat I'm around during the day, just PM me.*

What a neat idea! Now who needs a class in how to weasel your way into a first class upgrade? ;-)

Evening All, I just got home from the Rhinebeck Sheep and wool festival. All I have to say is OMG... It was incredible..I'm definitely going to make it a regular thing.it drew people from all over the country.they even had neat things for the kids to do.
I made really good time till I hit the Northern state.
I would be willing to teach people how to knit We should think about getting together to make that appliqué tablerunner(chicken one). Richard is going to the surgeons meeting in a couple of weeks.

Carol, So glad you had a good time at the sheep & wool festival. I'm sorry we didn't get to see you while you were here.

Today, Linz & I headed south to the Sussex show. We saw some incredibly beautiful birds and I have now fallen in love with pigeons! The frillbacks, fantails and the ones with the feather "collars" were all amazing.

We met Dr. Brown and found him super nice and very helpful. Bought his Emergency Kit plus a few other goodies. We also met Roberta and Vera, who were very sweet and showed Lindsey a beautiful baby parrot. Here are a few nice pictures that we took of the ladies...

Here is a pic of our poor splash that has neurological damage from the shipping delays. He is getting ready to be tube fed, all wrapped up in a sleeve from a sweatshirt.
