Sparrow Ministries - 01-06-2012 Cleaning room done!

I've posted before but feel my Spirit being nudged to post again!!!! Just an old fashioned Southern "Amen" will do......

Thanks to the original poster and all who have posted....It fills my heart and soul to overflowing and smiling and weeping at the same time.........

Thanks are not adequate words to say when you do His work.....Blessed are you....

You are being a blessing and being blessed....

Does it get any better than that on this earth...I believe not.

WOW! God is amazing. Just yesterday afternoon I bought 9 hens and a matching roo from an ad on Craigslist. The whole flock for $30!! I already had 8 layers supplying all my family's and friend's needs for eggs. I even told my wife as we drove to pick them up, "I don't know why I am getting these birds, we don't need them, but I just want to get them."

It all came crystal clear when I came across your thread today. And oddly enough I don't visit this forum very often anymore. I'm getting goose bumps just reading this while He is talking to my spirit at the same time.

I just told my pastor last evening that I felt God was getting ready to do a new thing in our little (economically oppressed) town. I didn't know what it was, just a feeling. I think I know now.

As far as donations of feed, cartons or even cash, be careful not to take away another believer's blessing by not allowing them to contribute. My local feed supplier has already offered feed in the past, knowing I was involved in church activities for community outreach. I am going forward with this idea today with the help of my pastor. I should have somewhere around 3-5 dozen a week for donating. Maybe more!

God is good ALL the time!

Yesterday, I contacted my pastor who happens to be the chaplain for the county sheriff's dept. So he gets called out regularly to burned out victims and broken home situations. He will be delivering eggs with salvation tracts inserted into the cartons.

I am delivering my first two dozen (along with a few other groceries) in a few minutes to a young family with 4 small kids who's daddy was laid off 18 months ago. He is working as a hash slinger at the local greasy spoon but can't find full time employment. The mom works at McD's. She just came to church for the first time in 10 years. The parents are really trying, but life is sometimes brutal. The house they are renting is being condemned as soon as they find another place to live. No car. No heat. Some other folks in our church are stepping up with clothing and help paying the bills, etc.

If we all do a little, a lot gets done.

Our God is an Egg-cellent God!!!

Wow...!!!! Great Job!

That is wonderful that you were able to participate in helping this family. God Bless You!!!!

Update:
I added a fourth label to my cartons last night that invited the local community to our church and gave them the time services start.
I was able to distribute 11 dozen last night. Some of the porches I came up to were covered with beer cans but I didn't let that intimidate me. I just knock on the door and offered them free eggs with a smile

God is wonderful and I feel so very privileged to be able to serve HIM in something that I enjoy doing so much anyway.

Praise the Lord!

I will be “out of the loop” this whole week of thanksgiving so I just wanted to say that this week is a great time for us to focus on what God has done for us and give Him the praise and thanks for his generosity and mercy.

God has blessed me so very much and I am so very thankful.

I'm also very thankful for what He has done through Sparrow Ministries.

God Bless and Happy Thanksgiving week!!

I'd like to be able to give away some eggs, too, but since my husband and I both lost our jobs last year, we are struggling ourselves - we could really use the cash from selling a few to our still-employed neighbors!

Update:

My hens have been slacking off with the eggs the last few weeks and my alternate supplier has been slow bout getting eggs to me as well(I expect to get a delivery early this week of 10 doz).

Sooo I'm still struggling to find enough eggs to fill the needs in my community

I have ordered 25 Red Production Sex-link Chick Pullets that will be delivered on Dec 11th. I know this is a bad time to keep them warm but I need to do something to ensure a supply of eggs in the future so I don't have to try to scavenge to find eggs later when I we them for Sparrow Ministries.

My God has been gracious, merciful and kind to my family and He is deserving of all my praise!! We have financial issues in our family but I will serve him through these tough times and he will see us through and in our efforts we will lift up the name of Jesus.

I have given out 6 dozen so far and am waiting for the hens to get busy so I can deliver more.

My pastor told me someone contacted him to donate 12 (I think) boston butts (pork roasts) to be handed out over the holidays to less fortunate families.

Also, I asked my pastor if I could do this ministry in the name of our church. He said that is a good idea. I will keep track of how many dozen I deliver and he will give me a letter of donation at the end of the year for tax purposes. So, I can write off most of my feed bill while helping those in need.
