I have a RIR who lays speckled eggs.

3 of my 25 ISA browns lay speckled eggs. Drumstick my test subject also layes a nice creamy yellow colored egg but she is a sandy colored ISA brown..

I have a Black Rock that sometimes lays speckled eggs. I just gathered one this morning that was beautifully speckled!

I have a welsummer hen who typically lays milk chocolate brown eggs. However, about once per week she will produce a light brown egg (akin in color to our BR's eggs) with dark brown speckles. They're quite pretty and make for an interesting egg basket mix.

I have no clue what breed my hen is but I get blue/green speckled eggs. Does anyone know what causes this and maybe knows what kind of chicken I have?
