She is eating and acting good (6 month old). It just looks awful! I have been giving her Tylon orally and rinsing the eye. Please advise.

I added how it looked the morning I first noticed it. You can see the dark scab, which lead me to think, something bite her during the night.

Thanks for reading!

That is very gross. I'm thinking it could be a fast growing cyst or a tumor since it hasn't responded to the Tylan.

As long as your pullet is behaving normally, I would just take a wait and see approach. I have a ten-year old hen who's had a slow-growing tumor over her eye, and she's never behaved like it bothers her. She's lived with it for over five years.

I added some photos of the first day I noticed it, exactly 2 weeks ago (1 aug 2018). I thought something bit her during the night

Though rare in the US, eye worms are a possibility. They are about a quarter inch long and thin. Try putting a little pressure at the rear corner of the eye. If there are worms or even a foreign body, you should be able to see it and remove it. Then flush the eye with saline.

Good video link, thanks (AND EWEEE!)

small, very small amount of milky puss discharge by the initial black spot. I tried to squeeze it and nothing happened. Doesn't move or pop or omit anything. Also I punctured it with a very sharp embroidery needle and squeezed, possibly I did not puncture deep enough, and only a little blood came out. No sign of worms. Then I washed eye with saline, gave Tylon orally and Neosporin the entire abscess. She still seemed to be eating fine and acting normal.

To me it looks like she has developed cellulitis in the area where it was bitten, pecked, or whatever happened. That is an infection of bacteria entering the skin and causing swelling of the tissue. But a tumor could still be a possibility. It would probably help to use an antibiotic that treats streptococcus or staphylococcus, to see if swelling decreases. Most good oral antibiotics have to come from a vet. The Tylan might help. Sometimes these sorts of things are a bit of guesswork and detective work, especially if treating without a vet.

Yes. A 'mother' always knows, doesn't she? There is that nocturnal spider brown recluse, do you have it in your area?

My homeopathic materia medica says that the bite area will swell and turn red with a blueish or grayish border. Hard to the touch. My second materia medica says that the blood after the bite should be black. Well that's a hit in homeopathy. Unfortunately, it's two weeks later, but we can still be cautiously optimistic. She's young.

Let me know if you're interested.
