Kim, By the way, got any pics of your ducks? I'd love to see them. Hoping to get our hatch along going next month!

QUACKKKKKK!!!! I found 2 muddy nests this morning and need to catch the buggers to put in breeding pens. The pond is about 1 acre and presenting some.....ummm....issues.

You guys have been chatty today. It has been a long and difficult day and while I would normally have a lot to say about the comments made regarding attorneys and our legal system (seeing that I am a trial lawyer), I will refrain, except to say Great News that the dog owners have been formally charged!

Bonnie had another seizure today and our vet is adding prednisone to the pheno. It is basically our last shot to help her because we are all convinced she has a large inoperable brain tumor and... Well, let's face it... She is a 13yo white boxer.

At this point, Spirit has to learn how to adjust walking with his new leg and foot and important to build muscle, which will take time, but all in all we believe we have succeeded in giving Spirit a long, healthy life with pretty decent mobility.

That's good news about the dog owners and Spririt.

I hope the prednisone will help your Bonnie so you all can enjoy the time she has left.

So pretty! I wish I could have some. I know their loud quacks would annoy hubby, though. Have fun trying to catch them!

Gorgeous!! Got any pics of your silver apple yards? I wonder how different their personalities are from the large size? I love my cayugas' personalities 2nd to only my Muscovies, who are my clear favorites. I find my silver apple yards to have the most bland personalities of all the duck breeds I have.

Iain - So happy to hear of Spirits continued progress. That's really awesome.

I'm also sorry Bonnie is still having troubles, and I know this must be very painful for you to watch. My most loved pet ever, Ki the chow mix dog, got cancer at age 9. I remember how hard it was when it was clear it had came back terrible after surgery. I remember calling a friend who loved pets as much, and double checking my thinking on how to proceed. It is a precious awful time, every single moment at the end of a beloved life is the greatest beauty and the worst agony.

I hope something helps give her a longer more comfortable and less complicated remainder of her time. I don't know what else to say, except to tell you I'm thinking of you and she.

On a different note, not goose related, it was with immense delight that I found out that my city manager and engineers office had been on the run all morning answering questions for the State Historic Society on behalf of my paved back corner. I sent them a frustrated email yesterday, to be sure they were aware of what I was up against. I pointed out to them I was having to spend my restoration money on a lawyer now in a one woman effort to preserve a piece of historic property. (I love you of course, Iain, and I like the one I'm paying, I just wish it weren't necessary)

Thank you for the very touching words, Marty. Again, the sentiment brings tears to my eyes. :hugs:

Bonnie is responding to the prednisone and has had a better day. Spirit struggles to figure out how to use his new foot, but I believe he will be more mobile in a few days.

Outside, blind girl and gimpy are really trying hard to mate, and ginger, my buff dewlap has turned into a horny girl with a few of the boys. It is getting close to time to start separating them. It will be a pain to manage more yards, but fun when they start laying fertile eggs!

Yay for Spirit who will soon be up and running... or Dewlap version of running

for Bonnie... there is nothing that can be said to ease the pain for You and Iain. I know you will give her the best last days that you can.

doing ok... Jerry had the surgery to remove teeth today... so it's been a long day but he's feeling better. How are you? Did DD pick anything smaller then a swan yet?

Hang in there Janet. My dear, dear four legged companion is turning 10 this year. We lost his litter mate two years ago to cancer, and we believe he'll have the same fate as we can see some large masses that have formed around his body. He likes to sleep a lot, but occasionally gets this spurt of energy that remind us of his youthful spunk - he'll chase rabbits, even though there's no chance at all that he'll catch one, and the geese keep him on his toes (they like to bully him since they know he wont call their bluff). He's a good boy & we'll definitely miss him when he's gone.

Any chance we can get new Spirit pic?
