Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Very funny, Marty!

Here is a new picture of Spirit. Between his weight loss, feathers plucked for surgery, and frost bite, he doesn't look so hot. But he is gaining strength and weight daily and we will only go upwards from here. I'll bet by the end of his summer molt, he will be stunning!!
So wonderful to follow spirits journey...the world is blessed to have you in it taking care of this beautiful soul. :)

And Thanks to you too, Ruru! How's things in your neck of the woods?

He is a looker, I am so glad that he is doing so good. It wont be long and he will help bring some more into the world that will look as good as him.

J you have done such a wonderful job with him, you are to be commended!!!

Thank you, Triplell! I look forward to hatching his babies next year, but any eggs laid by his mate this year will be for eating only. How are your geese doing? Still sitting on their eggs??

Thanks, Bhonkers!! FYI, the dark goose is Spirit's mate, Ember, not Blind Girl.... but they look a lot alike!!

Yeh, they have now layed 15 eggs in one nest. They haven't stuc to laying on them yet. I think the two geese are taking turns. The others have quit laying for now but I am sure they will start back up more towards spring. I still do have them all seperated as the Toulouse are sill very testy. On the other two of my three call ducks are sharing a nest of 5 and 4 are developing nicely. My Rouens are egg laying machines. Duck eggs YUM!!! Some of my chickens must think it is spring as they are molting. I have two that are darn near bald. I might have to nit them a sweater, it is -15 right now plus a wind chill that makes it feel like -25.:barnie THese temps make me just want to !!!!!!!

Triplell my goose last year had 20 in her nest before she went set.

J you'll have a bunch of eggs by the time everyone gets in gear there.
How wonderful your 3 special babies have mates and will get to live full goosey lives

Triplell, that is seriously cold weather. I wouldn't be in a hurry for goslings until it gets warmer.

Paulla, thanks! Hubby and I are bracing ourselves for lots of eggs, seeing that we have 7 female ducks and 15 female geese.

Bonnie has responded well to the meds and is sort of back to herself, although very slow and easily tired. The vet thinks we have anywhere from a few weeks to a few months yet, which we are grateful for. Thanks for asking.

Here is a pic of Gimpy and BG that I took today. She looks a lot like Ember but a touch more petite and her beak is pink, not orange.

I also got a nice pic of Shimmer, my grey adult goose that is mated with Pistol, my adult buff gander, in hopes of getting some pretty color sexed female buff goslings for my extra buff juvenile ganders.
