Good morning.... Bonnie rallied back yesterday and is still with us. I took her for a short walk in the afternoon and got some pics with my phone camera, so you could put a face to the name.

This is Bonnie:

She found some cat poop.... she loves cat poop... it made her day:

What a cute doggy.

Dogs are gross. Thankfully, none of my current dogs like to eat dog poop and I don't have any cats. My Golden Retriever, Lilly, liked to eat just my dog Oliver's poop for some reason, but he's gone now. I can deal with them eating the duck, goose, and horse poop.

Here you go, Lydia. Pics of Spirit and Ember outside today. Their usual backyard pen is occupied at the moment (that will be fixed tomorrow). So, they are in the large side yard pen out front and are a little uncomfortable about being where they are. But, they both got a good swim in kiddy pool and are getting much needed outdoor exercise. You can see how tattered Spirit's wings are. I can't until he molts in a couple of months!

I see green grass!!! I bet Spirit and Ember had just a ball outside after being inside for so long.

We have at least March or even the end of April before I will see any of that.:( We are still with at least 2 ft of snow on the ground. What Dad had snowblowed is again all covered up from the wind from yesterday and today. The sun was out but felt like 0 with the wind. I can't wait to let the geese hatch some of their eggs and have them outside with the grass. I have been letting the ducks go outside as they will only go about 10 ft from the door to the barn. The geese on the other hand... Yesterday I let the Toulouse outside for just alittle time and they were headed to the far front field. No fun in trying to get them back to the barn with snow drifts up to 3-4 ft. They walked on top and I broke through with each step. THe fence that I had that portion blocked off was taken down from the FD and was recked doing so. Ohwell the geese will jsut get more greens and have to stay inside until the snow melts so the fence can be repaired.

Gosh can you believe the green grass, we live in the mid south and we don't have anything green now.

I bought kale for my flock yesterday first time they have ever had it, geese weren't too impressed but when i brought out the rest of the bag in the afternoon they gobbled it up too. sorry about you weather T hope you all get a break soon. And sorry your thinking of letting your geese go, maybe when warm weather comes you'll feel different. Their calling for up to 4" here and everyone panics. [snow].

Thanks Miss Lydia, I have been taking care of over 60 birds since December 4th and it is just too much. The geese have been the largist part of my chores and it has been very hard on me physically. I have some health issue's that make it hard, The DH is coming home in March and we will discuse keeping them until the fall and possibly just keeping a trio over the next winter. I can at least say that we had them and tried them. If winter here wasn't so hard we would keep them for usre. Our winters here are long and harsh, the outside water'r froze up solid when something chewed through the wireing. The other end is frozen to the ground with ice covering the end.

Triplell, sorry things are tough for you right now. It sounds like you are having a classic miserable Minnesota winter. Hope that when hubby gets home, it will be easier.

It shocks me to see green grass in February, too! We had the coldest January since 1949, but then we have had an unusually warm/dry February so far. It feels like late March!! I do worry, though, that if we do not get enough spring snow/rain, we will have another awful summer with drought/wildfire.... which makes good quality hay hard to find at a reasonable price.

But, on the bright side, Spirit can get outside a little earlier than planned to build strength in bones and muscles... and be that much closer to being declared 100% recovered.
