Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Thanks, ladies.

Yes, it was a warm bath (per Scott's instructions). I will do everything I can to help him pull through this, but I am worried. He hasn't been this disabled since right after surgery over a year ago. At least there is some improvement.
Hopefully with your TLC and some time to recoup he'll be feeling good again and able to get around. At least you have a space available inside, I'd have to clean out the back bedroom of all furniture and use it for hospital if I had to bring one of mine inside. especially with 4 dogs.

Don´t be worried, he´ll be fine I´m quite sure. He´s just a special goose and needs special care.

I have a wounded chicken in our spare bedroom!! I´m hoping she gets better before I need it! She flaps her wings and muck and dust go everywhere!

I know you do and I have had chickens and ducks inside at times so we all know what we're up against with the dander and feathers. This room I was talking about has been used as chick brooder room but not for geese, of course my grandkids sleep in their when they are here they would probably like the idea of having a goose in the bedroom with them.

It is very handy to have a spare bedroom for sick/injured pets. We refer to our spare room as "Spirit's room" since he has spent so much time in there. We have to do a LOT of laundry to keep rotating clean blankets/towels daily for the floor, but it works well.

My friend down the street has an injured chicken (frostbite/hypothermia) living in her main bathroom now. The things we do for the pets we love so much.

To me they are no different than my dogs, if they need help they get it. I am thankful I have quite a few dog crates in various sizes too.

Has the temps moderated out your way yet? we had almost spring here for the last 3 days.

Not really. It is 16F and light snow today, so that should hopefully keep overnight lows closer to 0F. But they say Sunday night will be -20F or worse. So far, everyone outside is hanging in there. Walter is doing surprisingly well in the garage. Iain has been a doll making sure they all have fresh water and plenty of hay bedding. He even empties/fills the Africans' large kiddy pool daily.

Spirit is continuing to show baby steps of improvement. I am encouraged. I plan to draw his bath after I finish afternoon feeding time. I expect that will help him on the road to recovery.

It definitely takes a team effort to take care of them doesn't it. especially when there are so many and some are special needs. Glad to hear you keep seeing progress even if tiny. but I am very thankful we don't have your temps. Yep!

And you do the same for your horses?!

Brilliant. Excercise to help his circulation, physio to help his tendons and muscles........he´ll come on great.
