Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

I'm pleased to report I am continuing to see slow and steady progress. He is clearly gaining strength and can sort of stand now. The baths are helping a lot and he spends over an hour in it every evening. It is so amazing to me how he refuses to give up the good fight and maintains a positive attitude. We still have a long ways to go, but if anyone can pull through this, Spirit can!

That´s good progress, just about standing already. Good work. He´ll be ready to go back outside on the nice days before you know it. A hop and a skip and it´ll be 2014 with spring around the corner...and lots of goslings for Uncle Spirit to watch over!

So sorry you guys and Spirit are going through a ruff time. I'm glad the vet isn't too worried although I know you had to be beside yourself.

I had a long talk this afternoon with Scott who thinks that the frostbite is in the bone, but is encouraged at how the foot appears to be healing and that Spirit is willing to try to use the foot. He said that it could take weeks before he is fully mobile again. Scott plans to come over to our house on Saturday to examine him and adjust treatment program, if necessary. In the meantime, we will continue to stay the course with current treatment program.

Donna & Paulla...you two must have this thread on subscription, which especially touches me. I hope you both are hanging in there, too!!

I do. Trying to keep up with the friends that cared deeply/helped us this summer. You mean alot to me.

I don't come over to type much and my heart isn't into the hatching that our friends in the southern hemisphere are enjoying. Hope to be more involved when our season starts.

You know, I´ve been following the threads and I´m just so glad I don´t have to worry about those terrible winter conditions any more...and psue, when your season starts, and your heart IS into the hatching again, mine will be resting!

Now, I´m just watching them grow. The rainy season has definitely arrived, the grass is lush......and so it´ll be for a few months. And when it´s too hot outside or chucking it down, I´ll be reading and learning about all the latest challenges, triumphs and fun you all will have.
