Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

Wonderful, We are having a beautiful day with sunshine and 40 degrees. The geese have caught on with goingin the barn and are no trouble now. They have learned that by going inside they get to have some scratch and corn. Yum Yum.

Iian NO I never let Gloria into water at all until the rods and pns were taken out.... They do not want them in water because it can open up the healing area and cause an infection from bacteria in the water. So until the rods and pins are taken out try to keep Spirit out of the water so no bacteria can get into the wounds.
Gloria healed just beautifuly and has no limp or any sign of the leg ever being shattered.

While this is true, he also was a veitnam vet and has problems with PTSD. My dad has the same and family support can mean everything. I will be going to a-lon meatings while he is in treatment so that I can help when he comes home and give much support to him as well as getting the supprort that I need. This is gonna be a long process but hopefully the man I married will slowly come out of his shell.

His family has never supported him and left him on his own. I will stand by him and help him stand tall and be proud of himself.

My animals have alway's been my salvation next to God. I talk out most of my problems to them and they are alway's welcome to listen and sometimes I get answers back. But most of all I get losts of love in return.

I am married to a Vietnam vet also who has PTSD and with medication has done pretty good. Support and Prayer are the keys to helping and sounds like you have them both covered. Maybe when he gets on his feet you could try to talk him into checking out the DAV of America, it has helped my husband so much to have the fellowship of other vets. AND he doesn't have to be physically disabled to be a member either.

Thank you Miss Lydia, He is starting some medications while he is in there to help with the depression and not able to sleep through out the night with out acting out while he is sleeping. Most people don't understand just what PTSD is as it can be different for each person. The counsler at the VA is making appointments for me to talk with her for more support for me and him as well. Our lives will be different but I am hoping in a possitive way. His whole life has circled the bars and drinking. Now maybe we can enjoy life together. I new when I married him that he had problems but I also saw what a wonderful man is on the otherside of his BRICK WALL.

Ruru, that is really awesome. By the way, I'd love to see a pic of your special goose. I've been a bad mom then, letting him go into the kiddy pool a couple of times this past week.

But it really lifts his spirits and I hate depriving the rest of his group a kiddy pool (but I do 99% of the time). I'll try to do better.

Triplell, I wish you the best of luck!! It is a long and bumpy road, but the destination is worth the challenges in getting there.

Iian you are so right. While you ahve challenges with Spirit, I have challenges with my DH. My geese are in goose heaven with the weather being so nice. It is funny to watch them trying to take a bath while in their beds on the straw. They go throught all the motions but just no water. I have two of the Toulouse and two of the African crosses starting to pair up. Should I put them in tier own stalls or just leave them alone? If I put them in the stalls then they wont be able to go outside at all. What do you guys think I should do?
