Iain how is our friend Spirit doing today? You should be seeing now at this point him doing more and more each day. When the pens and rods come out he will have to at first take it a bit easy. He will limp a little at first but then as he gets stronger will do better each day.

The saying "I am woman, hear me roar!" comes to mind when I think of what you have gone through.

Spirit and Ember are locked up today because it is snowing outside. He is not too happy about it.

That is exactly what the vet said, and I am seeing more and more progress each day. However, because of the rotation in upper leg, he used a different set of muscles than normal geese. So, now he has to completely undo his muscle memory and figure out a new way to walk, as well as develop those muscles for the first time. You can see him trying to work it out, but it is usually easier to hop and use the "new" leg as balancing support. Even with the continued long road to recovery, it is already a complete success because he has far better mobility now than he did before surgery.

Thanks, Marty.

Speaking of figuring out how to walk again, how are Baby and Lucky today???

Iain glad to here Spirit is growing more and more strength. Good to hear he is not happy inside that means he is coming along great...

My geese are being bad right now they are out triming my baby pink blossom weeping crab apple tree.

Everyone is taking a turn. Guess they think it needs triming at the poor trees weeping limbs.

Marty how are your two babies coming along? I sure hope the two are improving. I know your duck is having a hard time. But keep up the pool exercise which is great for the legs to strengthen up daily to help start walking again. My prayers for them.

Ruru, funny!! My geese have done an excellent job trimming my aspens and pines. Now that they cleaned up what is in their yard, I gather branches to toss in for them. They love it.

Thanks, Marty & Magoo!!!

Well he has a pretty girl to keep him company so I bet that helps some.

Good morning, friends. :)

Well, poor Spirit and Ember had to stay locked up all day yesterday. I hope to be able to get them outside this afternoon, but it needs to warm up more (it's only 19F right now), plus I need to shovel the snow out their pen. Only 2 more days until his next appointment. I am excited about that!

Hope everyone's flocks/gaggles are doing well and staying warm!
